The arcle points out that we as a society see an increasing number of people who don’t carry cash or even checkbooks around and instead pay for everything with a plasc card. If you are someone who prefers to give in this way to the church we now have the capability to receive online payments. You can go to our website or you can download an app called Givelify on your smartphone to make donaons to the church. There is a small 3% fee charged to the church to offer this service to you. When you give $100 you will get credit for a $100 donaon for your taxes but the church only receives about $97. Hopefully this convenient way of giving will help some. For others, we sll accept cash, checks, sharing of talents, etc. Sanctuary Flowers Beginning September The presence of flowers in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings add beauty and warmth during worship. I found in my mailbox an article from the Daily Oklahoma that featured stories of churches

everything with a plastic card. If you are someone who prefers to give in this way to the

church we now have the capability to receive online payments. You can go to our website or you can

give $100 you will get credit for a $100 donation for your taxes but the church only

receives about $97. Hopefully this convenient way of giving will help some.

For others, we still accept cash, checks, sharing of talents, etc.

School is in session!

I know there are many who have already started

back to classes, others who return to classes this

week and college students who are embarking on

their journey to college. I pray for those teachers

who are coming back from a break and I pray they

are rested, that they are inspired, and that they are

ready to provide meaningful and thought provoking

learning opportunities that truly engage their

students. I pray that the students who return are

ready to learn, that they desire to be present in

class. I pray also for all who are involved in one of

the most important programs, the education

system. We need kids to be taught to be critical

thinkers, to be taught to question, and we need

them to discover a desire for knowledge. It is so

meaningful to me to see Western Oaks Christian

Church supporting education through collecting

school supplies, providing breakfast to teachers,

partnering with schools, offering meals for school

activities such as football teams or drama clubs, and

especially our involvement in Whiz Kids. Thank you

to everyone who helps our community know that

we value education and we value those who are

right their shaping those minds who will be our

future. We want the very best for them all.

Blessings,

Daniel

Tuesday CWF meetings will resume on September 11, 2018. The new officers elected in May are:

President - Betty Singleton Worship Chair – Marlene Word

Vice President - Charlene Majetic Secretary – Betty Jane Spreier

Treasurer – Terry Spreier Calling Chair – Marilyn Chalk

Service Co-Chairs – Sandra Spillman & Charli Meador Coffee Fellowship Chair – Jenna Droke

Membership Chair – Charlene Majetic Sunshine Chair – Barbara Campbell

This group meets on Tuesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 for fellowship and completing quilts which we donate to

Citizens Caring for Children. CC for C serves foster children in Oklahoma county and 4 surrounding counties.

Currently there are 8,000 foster children served in the state of Oklahoma by several different organizations.

One of our quilts is given to each foster child on his/her first visit to Citizens Caring for Children. As of June

30, 2018 our group has donated 251 quilts, quite an accomplishment for approximately 10 – 12 members.

A total of 323 quilts was donated in 2017.

The second Tuesday of each month we meet from 10:00 am – noon for a business meeting followed by a

covered dish luncheon. A worship service is always included and some months

include an outside speaker.

New members and guests are always welcome to attend. There is no need to have

sewing skills as we also mark and cut squares for the quilts and enjoy fellowship and

support for one another.
