Oak Grove Mission Statement
Our mission is to glorify God through worship, bring people to faithful
discipleship in Christ, equip them for ministry in the church and the
world, and grow in our love for one another through fellowship.

A Memorial Stone
We recently observed Memorial Day, a day to remember
those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
It is right that we remember that this country’s freedom came
with sacrifice. In the book of Joshua just before his death
Joshua had a large stone rolled beside the oak tree that was
by the sanctuary. He did this so that the people would re-
member that the stone was there when the people heard the
word of God and that it was a witness to them.
As we look at the churches around us today, they are not
only the place where we worship they are a memorial stone
to us as well. We are reminded of the sacrifice that those
who went before us made so that we might have what we
have in the form of our churches today. A walk through
God’s Acre reminds us of those who have served the Lord
and Oak Grove in this place and what they have meant to our
heritage.
The journey doesn’t end there though; it has been passed
on to us to continue. We have the legacy of our family and
friends to guard and to add to. As we go forward I hope that
you will ask yourself when you are gone to your reward,
what will you being at Oak Grove mean.
Will there have been lessons taught, work done, people
encouraged? We have been blessed not only to have been
here but to add to the heritage that this church is and will be.
Oak Grove is in its third century of ministry and with Gods
blessings it will continue on. How effective the ministry is
will depend on how we react to the Lords call to follow Him.
The call is clear I pray that our response will be as well.
Gods Blessings,
David
Get ready for CHRISTMAS
In JULY!
All of the children & youth will be filling
shoe boxes with Christmas gifts to be given
to the many impoverished children around
the world. Your donations of small gifts
& toiletries will be accepted in the Fellow-
ship Hall until the Lock-In scheduled for
Friday, July 10th. Our young people are
reaching out to the less fortunate children
of the world via Operation Christmas Child.
Please say a prayer that the children who
receive your generous gifts will feel Jesus’
love & seek Him.
JOINT BOARD REPORT
Joint Board met on 4-27-15, opened with prayer by David Berrier, to dis-
cuss and categorize Congregational Review Surveys. Arrangements
were determined for graduate recognition and for a special luncheon to
thank Arkon Stewart and David Berrier for leading our congregation
during our transition.
Joint Board met again on 5-4-15, opened with prayer by David Berrier,
with further discussion of survey results. Each of the 9 board members
present completed a board-specific survey as required for the PEC. The
Pastors Potluck date was changed due to Memorial Day.

Save the Date! 2nd Annual
Community Market is September 19th!
Vacation Bible School “G Force” will be
held on July 26 – 28. It takes a lot of
people to work this mission. Volun-
teers are needed to lead or assist with
teaching bible lessons, creating crafts,
leading games and more for just 3
days. Call the church office or plan to
attend the VBS meeting on June 28 at
3:00 to see where you fit in!
The next
Band Practice
is Sunday,
June 28th at 9:00 a.m.
in the
Fellowship Hall.
Thank you to those who came to help us prepare the graveyard flowers for storage and make them look good as new! Sincerely, Circle #2
The children of Oak Grove, along with their parents, are invited
to a day of fellowship at Lake Myers on Wednesday, July 22nd.
Sign-up is REQUIRED no later than July 12th. Sheet is
posted on the bulletin board plus more details.
Fee information to follow, but typical range is $3-$10 each.
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children
of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves,
so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received
brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we
cry, “Abba, Father”. The Spirit himself testifies with our
spirit that we are God’s children. —-Romans 8:14-16 NIV
Continuing The Vision…….

Proverbs 17:22, says, "A merry heart does good,
like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the
bones.”
Sunday after church, a mother asked her very young
daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter an-
swered, “Don’t be scared, you’ll get your quilt.” Need-
less to say, the mother was perplexed. Later in the
day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the mother
asked him what that morning’s Sunday School lesson
was about. He said, “Be not afraid, thy comforter is
coming.”
Newsletter Notes
Play ball! at BB&T Ballpark on June 19 for Moravian Her-itage Night with the Winston-Salem Dash playing the Salem Red Sox. “The Star -Spangled Banner” will be played with gusto by the Moravian Lower Brass. And we hear tell a rumor that Music Foundation Director Nola Reed Knouse has har-monized a little ditty for the Seventh Inning Stretch. (We promise to practice our part this time.)
“ZAP!” reports Fairview of its April 9 lightning strike. “The metal cross on the steeple came crashing down; a power surge knocked out the air conditioning and heating control panel, sound system, organ, and a telephone line.” Anything left? Yes. The Church building is still standing. All are safe and well. And worship went on the next Sunday “with fans blowing, pastor and lay leaders speaking loudly, and piano playing.” Besides, it was right in the midst of Easter the -Lord-is-risen season. Trustees have the matter in hand, insurers and repairers at work, etc. Organ will take a while to sort out, so “we continue to make a joyful noise with piano accompani-ment.”
New Philadelphia lets it all hang out with a congrega-tion survey on the Internet at http://www.newphilly.org/pdf/NPMC_WorshipSurvey_2015.pdf. Fascinating ideas-suggestions-reading. Surprise/no surprise. Wide spectrum from don’t change a thing to change everything with most in the middle. Sounds just like Our Church. Or Every Church. And Clemmons is also embarking on a self-study on what the church means to its members and what dreams they have for its future in serving both members and the wider Clem-mons community.
We note with sadness the closing of Good Shepherd, set for May 31. With Br. Lane Sapp as its founding minister, Good Shepherd held its first meeting October 4, 1988, in Kernersville Elementary School and celebrated charter Sun-day in its own new church on February 12, 1989. But in the last 15 years decline set in and — despite dedicated turn-around efforts — finally all but exhausted the congregation and its financial resources. And so on May 3 a called Church Council unanimously took the decision. Prayers and blessings to all concerned as we turn another page in the life of the Southern Province.
