Chamber Ensembles Harold M. Harter Memorial Handbell Choir Percussion Ensemble Jazz Combos A wide variety of chamber ensembles are available in all areas.

Graduate students in all program areas enjoynumerous opportunities to work individuallywith internationally distinguished composition,conducting, performance, and research faculty.

Full (20 hours weekly) and half (10 hours weekly)assistantship assignments are available in allMM emphases. Candidates are automaticallyconsidered for an assistantship when they applyfor admission to the Master of Music degree.

In a personal statement, candidates shouldidentify skills they possess related to their areaof study as well as other abilities and professionalexperiences (for example, office support, musicteaching, or marketing).

In addition to graduate assistantships, the School ofMusic provides a limited number of tuition waiversto resident and non-resident graduate students.

Northern Arizona University is a 26,000-student institutionwith its main residential campus in Flagstaff, a four-seasoncommunity of about 65,000 at the base of the majesticSan Francisco Peaks. NAU’s emphasis on undergraduateeducation is enhanced by its graduate programs andresearch in addition to several distance learning programs.
