to further study.
How has studying at NZCC changed your life? It’s been so refreshing - my outlook on everything has changed. We
were taught critical thinking, we were taught to question everything.
That’s a skill that I now use not just in my studies, but in my life.
During my NZCC studies I’ve explored many aspects of health and
I’ve developed a strong interest in caring for people. Studying here
has created a pathway that I actually want to pursue. The doors have
been opened and it feels so great to have options!
Where to from here?I graduate in just a few weeks. I’m very excited! I’m thinking of
working as a healthcare assistant for palliative care. It would be a
privilege to make people’s last few moments more peaceful. My
long-term goal though is to become an art therapist, helping people
overcome mental health issues through art.

Head Teacher, Choice Kids
How have you become a Head Teacher at a childcare centre so quickly? I went to Choice Kids for the second practicum of my Diploma at
NZCC. Before the end of the practicum their Operations Manager
asked me if I’d like to stay on part-time, and then come on full-time
once I’d finished my NZCC studies. I couldn’t believe it and jumped
at the opportunity straight away! I started off as a Caregiver Teacher,
before being offered the position of Head Teacher. I felt very grateful
and privileged to even be considered for this role.
Why did you decide to get into Early Childhood Education?I used to be a stay-at-home mum and worked part-time in the
evenings as a cleaner, however I didn’t want to sit around home
anymore. I saw NZCC’s Early Childhood programme advertised in
the newspaper and it was the push I needed. Seeing children’s faces
light up when they achieve something is such an amazing feeling!
What’s it like to study at NZCC?Studying at NZCC gives you a real sense of “family”. I especially
enjoyed having class lunches, get togethers and little debates with
my tutors and classmates! I also learnt a lot. The lecturers are very
experienced and teach you about every little detail of the industry,
how important it is to read up on all the policies and how vital it is to
create a bond, not just with the children, but also with their parents,
grandparents and siblings.

What Our Employers Say
“The reason I chose an NZCC-trained nanny is I loved the idea of giving a young adult the chance to prove to themselves and to others that they are very capable of listening, learning and most of all, loving a child. So thank you NZCC, my young son is more aware of his surroundings, quick to pick things up, loves doing new activities and is friendly and happy.”
Natasha Johnson employed an NZCC-trained nanny in her home.
“Usha is an integral part of the Magic Kingdom team. She brings good knowledge and positive behaviour guidance strategies. She has learned through her studies at NZCC the importance of working with the guardians of the future.”
Meenakshi Seth from Magic Kingdom Childcare employs NZCC graduate Usha Devi.

About Nannies PlusNannies Plus provides support for our early childhood education

Students enrolled in the highly practical Certificate in Early
Childhood Education (Home-based/Nanny) (Level 4) programme

that the best quality care is delivered to training families as well as
ongoing support and career development for students from NZCC.
Benefits for FamiliesAFFORDABLE + PERSONAL + RELIABLE
With home-based care, your child receives more one-on-one
teaching and attention. Having a Nannies Plus nanny in your home
means that your child’s wellbeing and individual learning needs are
always put first.
Home-based care can reduce stress for both you and your child to
maintain a relaxed home environment. Change can be daunting for
young children, however home-based care means that your child
can continue learning whilst in the safety and comfort of familiar
surroundings.
Our nannies care about your child’s wellbeing as well as the
wellbeing of your entire family. Our nannies respect your family
values and will reinforce your family’s philosophy. On top of this
they will often perform child-related household duties.
Benefits for Trainee NanniesQUALIFIED + EXPERIENCE + EMPLOYMENT

Nanny) (Level 4) is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain the
theoretical knowledge and practical application to become sought
after nannies. Gaining a qualification that they are passionate about
can open up a multitude of opportunities and career pathways.
