NZHA/Lincoln High junior shooters clean up the Canterbury Secondary Schools Shoot.

Pictured below are, from left to right, James Crafts, Josh Barlass and Mitch Thorn. All three are NZHA junior members and avid Clay target shooters. The boys took out the top gun individual trophy (James) and the top gun team trophy. I recognition of the success of these young shooters and in order to encourage their efforts further the committee has voted to sponsor the boys two slabs (500) rounds of 12 gauge shot ammunition. Well done to all three.

Club Hub is coming! ClubHub is an online registration, administration and membership management system. It allows members to register online and sub-scribe to alerts, notifications, renew their annual subscriptions, par-ticipate in forums and access to a ‘trade and exchange’ facility. The committee recognises that member engagement of the NZHA in recent times has been less than it would like. Maintaining manual email data bases is fraught with errors and mistakes. Mailing a newsletter is a large expense on an annual basis. Modern technol-ogy such as Club Hub will allow the NZHA to engage members for minimal cost ($6.00 per member per year - the equivalent of 50 cents per month or less than the price of a stamp) and enhance the power of instant communication. It is expected to have the NZHA Club Hub facility up and running by the time of the AGM.

Watch the club web site for the following logo and sign up.

THOSE BLOODY TYRES: The NZHPC has abandoned the stockpile of tyres on the sites formally used for pistol shooting. Disposal of tyres is a very costly process in this day and age and recently the president was charged $7.00 to dump ONE only tyre. The global demand for rubber chip and tyres is zero presently and the club is not in a position to pay to dispose of these especially since the tyres were not put on site by the NZHA to begin with. If any members know of a business or indi-vidual that would be interested in as many free light truck tyres as they can shake a stick at, please have them contact either Tony, Simon or Jeff. HUNTING ‘ACCIDENTS’: In the last seven days yet another hunter was shot dead by a member of his hunting party. Which part of IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET BEYOND ALL DOUDT do these people not understand? Too all of our field shooters—please, please, please do not make this mistake. There is no excuse. Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt Rule 5: Check your firing zone Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
