WOOLWORTHS CRICKET
Dear Parents/Carers,
Nyngan Public School was a sea of red, black and yellow today as our celebrations for
Reconciliation Week culminated with a mufti day.
I would like to thank families who are supporting school uniform by sending children to school in a
navy jumper/coat. Both Nyngan Innovations and Brads Wear stock navy jumpers/hoodies.
Throughout the week I have had the opportunity to visit all classrooms a number of times. Thumbs
up to Year 5 who completed a pictorial science lesson outside on Wednesday. Students were
thoroughly engaged in the activity, proudly sharing their learning with staff and students who walked
by. Great work Year 5!
Many thanks to Mckinlay, Kimmy and Dougie Dedman who have shared their tadpole collection
with us. We are all watching keenly as our tadpoles turn into frogs.
Students have not received a Term 2 Home Work Grid. At the request of staff, students are more
than welcome to complete activities from the extensive take home packs delivered throughout the
start of the term or alternatively enjoy reading for enjoyment over the next 4 weeks. Home Work
Grids will be given out in the second week of Term 3
I would like to thank families for the support given to staff and students over the past 2 weeks as we
all transitioned to face to face learning. Parental willingness to support restrictions has made this
transition smooth.
I wish families a happy and safe long weekend. Classes will resume Tuesday, 9th June, 2020.

NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared
histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to
achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate
two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum,
and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move
forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider
Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In support of National Reconciliation Week, today NPS students and staff dressed in the
colours red, black and yellow.
Thanks to Hayley O’Brien from Catholic Care for supplying Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 with
wooden hands, which is a sign of reconciliation, for them to decorate. The students did a great
job and enjoyed painting their hands.
YEAR 5
Year 5 enjoyed the outdoors on
Wednesday drawing diagrams on how
earth’s rivers and oceans were formed.

KINDER
Kinder children have been asking if they can take home letter sheets to practise letter formation. We have kindly obliged and today your child has been given a pack with practice letter sheets, a whiteboard marker and an eraser. We would like you to encourage your child to say the sound as they write the letter (not the letter name), and to use lower case letters (not capitals).
If you would like, please take a photo of the beautiful work and send it to us via messenger or email.
Thanks for your help with this, but also thank your child for wanting to improve.
BOOK CLUB
Book Club catalogues were sent home with all students today. Orders are to be in by
Wednesday 17th June.
