It is much lighter andsmaller than a Bb clarinet which meansthe finger stretches are shorter and thetone holes smaller; great for small fingers!When the student is ready, the transitionto Bb clarinet is quick and easy.

Flute Accessories The NUVO flute range has been designed to allow a student to start as early as 4 years oldand keep the instrument for life. There are a number of useful accessories included with theinstrument and optional accessories shown on the following pages.

NUVO FLUTE CURVED HEAD JOINT

The curved head joint is a usefulaccessory for a young starter who wants toplay the student flute but may have somedifficulty with the stretch in the early days.Available in black or white.

jFLUTE UPGRADE KIT

The jFlute upgrade kit includes a straight head joint and ac-foot joint. It also includes a replacement fitting for the jFlutecase. This means that a student who has been using the jFlutecan now upgrade to the student flute without buying a wholenew instrument. Available in black or white.

COLORED KEY CAPS

This neat accessory is a full set of colored caps which can be used todecorate and personalize a NUVO flute. The caps can also be usedto mark the touch keys. This is particularly useful in the early daysof learning. The caps are assembled using the tool provided with asimple twist to secure them.

NUVO Spares Kits The spares kits have been developed to enable a teacher or dealer to keep a rangeof spare parts that may need replacing. All NUVO instruments can be repaired andmaintained by someone with reasonable mechanical skills but not necessarily with years ofexperience in repairing instruments.

The keys for the NUVO flute and Clarinéo snap on and off and for the flute, smalladjustments can be made using the screwdriver provided with each instrument.

The repairs and maintenance section on the NUVO website has a number of PDFsexplaining some of the simple steps to dismantling and repairing our instruments. If youencounter any problem that can’t be fixed please send an email [email protected] explaining the problem and include some photos.

FLUTE SPARES KIT

The flute spares kit includes a range of spare parts including keycaps, pads, grease pots, lip plates, screws and screwdrivers. It alsoincludes some spare cleaning sticks and pull-throughs.

School Storage A number of schools we have been working with run classes for groups of children wherethe children do not own the instruments. A full set of instruments is kept in the classroomand the children arrive at class and pick up an instrument to be used for that class. It savesa lot of t ime at the beginning and end of class if the instruments are kept out of cases andon storage racks. Mouthpieces and head joints are usually removed from the instrumentsand disinfected between classes or in some cases the children own their personalmouthpiece or head joint which they bring to class.

NUVO WindStars

The NUVO WindStars program createsreal woodwind ensembles in elementaryschools, with amazing results.

NUVO has been working with acclaimedcomposer, Paul Barker to create musicsuitable for all NUVO instrumentsfrom first steps level to debut throughintermediate. Within each level there is avariety of styles and genres including jazz,classical, reggae, pop, rock and hip hop.

Playing together as NUVO WindStarsprovides a unique early opportunity toexperience the joy of ensemble playingwith all the social and musical benefitsit brings. WindStars also provides anopportunity to introduce different musicgenres and styles to children, igniting alifelong love of music and providing theperfect platform for moving on to highschool band.

SETTING UP A NUVO WINDSTARS PROGRAM

Schools can set up a WindStars programusing any of the NUVO instrumentsdepending on the budget available and

the ambition and ability of the t eachersand children. A simple recorder programcan work well for up to 30 children andthen DOOD, TOOT, Clarinéo and jFlutescan be added as the children progress.

For the DOOD, TOOT, Clarinéo or jFlute,NUVO can supply neat desk stands whichhold up to 12 instruments. This is a greatway to speed up the beginning and endof each WindStars class as instrumentsare kept out, assembled and ready to play.See page 24 for storage options.

WindStars music can be downloaded fromwww.nuvo-windstars.com. Downloadsinclude the full score for teachers as well

as individual parts for the students. Alsoincluded are MP backing tracks whichcan be played on any MP player as wellas through our free NUVO WindStarsiPad app. The app allows teachers andstudents to manage backing tracks andhear and play along with the individualparts.
