"If you don’t like something, change it. If you think you can’t change it, change the way you think about it." -Bruce Barton

Our ProcessPre-Pilot ProjectBuilding partnerships:We hope to build a strong partnership with professors in NUS in order to get their advice on how to successfully link our vision with the operating realities of the universities.

Capacity Building:We also seek to develop our problem solving skills and knowledge of the constraints faced by a non-profit. We will seek advice from management consultants and social workers to help us with this.

Pilot Project(elaborated on the next page)

Post-Pilot Project

We will analyze the results from the pilot project and seek advice from NUS representatives about how to integrate the project into mainstream academics.

Our MotivationThe NeedEveryday, we see many students in NUS come to school without looking forward to it. We see people get excited over arranging their timetables such that they only have to come to school 3 or 4 days in a w e e k , a n d w e s e e p e o p l e complaining about what they feel are unproductive hours spent in the classroom.

This needs to change - and we want to do all we can to change it.

We be l i eve tha t coming to university should be an exciting experience, and an event that people look forward to. We believe that the things that we learn in the classroom can be immensely important, and that once students see the real life relevance and impact of what they are doing, they will be deeply engaged with their coursework.

Expected Outcomesa) Stimulating greater motivation

and drive among NUS Students about their coursework.

b) Fostering know-how amongst members of NUS Solutions about creating social change and about analyzing operations of organizations

c) Connecting team members with s o c i a l w o r k e r s , s o c i a l entrepreneurs and management consultants in Singapore

d) Ensuring a sustainable impact of recommendations on the NGO

Phased developmentPilot ProjectWe recognize that what we seek to achieve would require much thought and testing before it can be adopted on a large scale. As such, we intend to roll out a pilot project that en su re s t h a t we know t he operational and human problems that this project would entail and gives us ample time to fix them.

ProcessWe intend to roll out the pilot project in a organized, systematic manner in order to get to know our c o n s t r a i n t s , s t r e n g t h s a n d weaknesses better. A summary of our process can be found in the blue sidebar on this page.

Pilot Project: Operational Details

We seek to use the Define, Analyze, Implement and Review framework to organize our efforts. The details of these processes are shown in the diagram above.

The Implement step would require the support of NUS professors who are willing to slightly modify the specifications of the project components of the modules that they are teaching in order to help meet the NGOs requirements. Great care will be taken to ensure that the professors do not have to modify the requirements dramatically. Only a marginal change in the assessment specification will be required.
