REGISTERED NURSEAssess patient health problems and needs, develop andimplement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabledpatients.

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSINGPractice nursing with the guidance of a registered nurse orphysician in a variety of healthcare settings.

NURSING ASSISTANTProvide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, or movepatients, or change linens. May transfer or transport patients.Includes nursing care attendants and nursing aides.

MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANTAdministrative duties include a wide variety of tasks such as:updating and filing patient medical records, coding and fillingout insurance forms, and scheduling appointments.

RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGISTTake x-rays or administer nonradioactive materials into patient'sblood stream for diagnostic purposes. Additional certification inareas such as MRI, Mammography and Computed Tomographymay increase job responsibilities and salary.

RESPIRATORY THERAPISTDuties may include: management of Mechanical Ventilators,Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, obtaining andanalyzing Arterial Blood Gases and acting as members ofresuscitation team for patients who are experiencing pulmonaryand/or cardiac distress or failure.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT Assist physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatmentsand procedures. Document the progress of treatment andmodify specific treatments within the scope of treatment plansestablished by a physical therapist.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANAssess injuries, administer emergency medical care, andextricate trapped individuals. Transport injured or sick persons tomedical facilities.

PHLEBOTOMISTDraw and analyze blood for the detection, diagnosis andtreatment of diseases. Perform a series of complex chemical,biological, microscopic and bacteriological tests on patientsand provide an appropriate diagnosis.

PATIENT CARE TECHNICIANAssist doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals inproviding direct patient care in a variety of healthcareenvironments. Duties may include: basic patient care includingbathing, feeding, toileting and ambulating patients, obtainingEKG readings and performing phlebotomy procedures.

Physical Therapist Assistant The Physical Therapist Assistant program equips you to performselected physical therapy interventions under the direction andsupervision of a Physical Therapist. You will get classroominstruction, hands-on practice in simulated laboratory activities,and live experiences on real patients at clinical educationfacilities. Upon graduation, you will be able to work in a varietyof settings to assist individuals who have lost function so theycan live more active lifestyles.Effective April 30, 2014, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College's Physical TherapistAssistant Program has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by theCommission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street,Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703.706.3245; email: [email protected]).Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with theCommission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that theprogram may matriculate students in technical/professional courses and that theprogram is progressing toward accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is not anaccreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.

Radiology In the Radiologic Technology (RAD) program, you will receive atechnological education consisting of classroom and clinicalexperience. You will assist the radiologist in examining patientsfor disease or injuries by using radiographic equipment. Withadditional education, RAD can be a stepping stone forprosperous careers in the related allied health professions, suchas Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Education,Management, Special Procedures, Computed Tomography,Mammography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The following programs are available:l Associate in Applied Science - Major in Radiologic Technology l Certificates in Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging

(MRI) and Mammography.

Respiratory CareThe Respiratory Care program provides the advanced trainingneeded to demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills ina variety of healthcare settings. Career opportunities mayinclude: Adult and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (ICUs andNICUs), general floor therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, sleeplabs and transport teams. The following program is available:l Associate in Applied Science - Major in Respiratory Care

Medical AssistingThe Medical Assisting program will prepare you for a career thatrequires knowledge of basic office, patient care and laboratoryskills in medical offices, clinics, and hospitals. Medical assistantsare multi-skilled allied health professionals specifically trained towork in physician's offices, clinics, and group practices,performing administrative and clinical procedures. Well-balanced instruction in business skills and medical proceduresenables you to assist the physician in routine practice. Earn your BSN online and $ave Money!After you earn your Associate Degree in Nursing, you can continue your educationonline with USC Upstate to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The AssociateDegree and general education coursesrequired for the BSN degree can be completedat OCtech, with some of the courses evenavailable online. The BSN degree can then beobtained with an additional year of onlinenursing study through our partnership with USCUpstate. If you want to further your career andmake more money, this is the program for you! By pursuing your BSN degree at OCtech, you will earn your degree at a fraction of whatit would cost at a four-year university.
