It is essential to work together in order to support your child’s development and plan

effectively for your child's learning.

About Ryvers Reception

• 3 classes of 30 children - Led by class teacher and supported by experienced Nursery Nurses and Learning Support Assistants

• Drop off: 8.50 am/Pick Up: 3.20 pm

• RASCALs – Breakfast Club (from 7:45am) and After school Club (until 6pm)

• Clubs offered by outside agencies such as football, dance and ballet.

• Lunchtime – packed lunch or school dinners (free to children in Year R, 1 and 2)

• Communication Folders & Reading Record book – Comments about reading at home as well as communication book

• Good to Be Green – Behaviour Scheme

Our Daily Routine

Uniform

•A blue Ryvers school jumper or cardigan (for girls.)

•Dark grey trousers for boys - shorts in warmer months

• A dark grey skirt, pinafore or trousers for girls – blue checked dress in warmer months

•A white polo shirt

•Sensible black school shoes – no boots

•A book bag

•PE Kit

Preparation for starting school

• Independence – Encourage your child to be independent when getting dressed and going to the toilet.

• Ensure your child is able to use a knife and fork

• Talking and Responding— helping your child to talk—home language is important

• Play with your child and show them how to share

• Carpet time together – read stories, sing songs etc.

• Encourage your child to follow simple instructions — please can you get me…..?

Preparation for starting school

• Letter (sound) and number recognition

• Hold a pencil, crayon and scissors correctly

• Recognise and attempt to write his/her own name

• Speak in full sentences

• Thursday 5th September – Morning/Afternoon Stay and Play in new class, meet with class teacher – letter next week.

• Friday 6th September– Children stay for the morning session until..

• Monday 9th September – all children start full time
