The perimeter is the total distance all the way around the outside of any 2D shape.
The units for perimeter are:
(millimetre)
(centimetre)
(metre)
(kilometre)
Perimeter = + + + + =

The area of a 2D shape is the amount of surface it covers (inside the shape).
The units for area are:
(square millimetre)
(square centimetres)
(square metre)
(square kilometre)
Area = 24 squares
Area = (24 square centimetres)

The area of a triangle is found by multiplying the base by the height then divideing it by 2.
If you multiply the base by the perpendicular height, you get the area of a rectangle. The area of the triangle is half the area of the rectangle.
So, to find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the perpendicular height and divide by two. The formula is:
Remember to only use the perpendicular height of the triangle in place of .
Area = BxH ÷ 2
Area = 6 x 10 ÷ 2
Area = 30 cm2
Area = Base X Perpendicular Height
Area = 12 x14 ÷ 2
Area = 84cm2
