Yard of Excellence Award. This month’s award goes to Carl and Karla Goodwin in space 156! Congratulations and thank you for your fine example! A $50 gift certificate for East Hill Nursery, Yard of Excellence sign in your yard and an announcement in the Nuevas Newsletter will all be awarded to the winners! Four-Sided Inspections. We appreciate the great response to the home and lot inspections. Keep up the good work! If you have problems with completion of tasks, talk to us; we will work with you. ALERT!! Please do not use weed burners to remove weeds from your landscape. The risk of out of control fires is far too great. One incident of a fire getting out of control has already occurred and disaster was narrowly averted by the quick thinking of neighbors and timely response of the fire department. We have an after-hours emergency answering service. This is in place for times when management is not able to be reached, such as vacation times, and there is an emergency issue demanding attention. They will in turn contact other staff members who can assist you. The number is 253-889-6887.

PANTERA LAGO AND NUEVO ESTATES A HAPPY AND GRACIOUS SENIOR COMMUNITY
11436 SE 208TH STREET KENT, WA 98031
Issue #453 Kathy Ragsdale/Editor July 2018
If you see suspicious activity or persons, feel free to call management at 253-854-0313, but do not hesitate to call the police emergency number. We all want a safe community. Thursday is donuts and coffee day at the Community Clubhouse! Come on down to the Clubhouse and enjoy a donut and some association with your neighbors! Mark & Debbie, your Managers and Neighbors
COMMUNITY CLUB Happy Independence Day! Every country has a 4th of July, but only in America does the “Fourth” celebrate one of the biggest ever "tea parties.” To honor the long traditions that surround the United States’ independence from Great Britain we will have a FREE POT LUCK LUNCH on Saturday, July 7 at 12:00 noon in the clubhouse. The Community Club will provide plates, cups, eating utensils, non-alcoholic beverages, and a liquor license for those who wish to BYOB. A sign-up sheet will be available in the Clubhouse starting Friday, June 22. We will also have a large variety of board games available for any who wish to play, and we will set up the ping-pong table as well. Let’s have a fun day of food and games! Game Night – On Tuesday evenings at 6:00 some of us have started a Pinochle group. The group is still getting established, so there’s plenty of room for more players. If there are others interested in playing other games, there's plenty of room for additional players. Come on up Tuesday evening, join in the laughs and friendly stories. Board Meetings - With the election of officers for the Community Club Executive Board there was a conflict of schedules for the new people. As a result, we have rescheduled Board meetings to the 4th Tuesday of each month at 2:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend Board meetings. The Board is still in need of a Treasurer. The necessary skills can easily be learned and the time commitment averages about 2 hours a week. If you have an interest in helping in this way, please call Esther at 253-202-8885. In addition to the responsibilities of each Board position, it takes the effort of all the officers to plan and facilitate the social events. Mom and Pop Lunch - Saturday, June 2 we honored Mothers and Fathers with a catered lunch. Thanks go to Helen Ibach, Lila Pendell, and Nancy Harkness who created wonderful table décor. The tea cups with plants donated by Helen and Lila were offered as door prizes for the ladies. Prizes for men were key rings with miniature tools attached, the food was excellent, and everyone seemed to enjoy the fun event. Newcomer Welcome Committee - Volunteers are needed to create welcome baskets and visit with newcomers to welcome them to the community. Two people are currently available to help with baskets, but more help is needed as well as one or two people to
deliver baskets and welcome folks. If you have had the privilege of being greeted by someone with a welcome gift, then you probably know how special that is. Please consider giving a couple hours a month to help this wonderful tradition to continue. We are grateful to Linda Fadon for the time and dedication she provided doing this and wish her a speedy recovery from her surgery. Upcoming Event – The Annual Parking Lot Sale is just about 8 weeks away. August 11 will be here sooner than you might think! If you have items to sell or donate you will soon receive instruction on how and where. Volunteers are needed to help with outside and inside organization. Dan Barrett has well-prepared guidelines and information but needs several people to sign up to help for the organization and operation. Trish Kinney needs several volunteers to manage food sales in the kitchen. Mary Sands needs people to provide baked goods for the bake sale as well as volunteers to help with the sale itself. Organization for the Community Club donation table is being managed by Margaret Moroz and Dave Roe again this year. If you're new to the neighborhood, this is the one event all year where everyone gets on board. Table reservations will be posted in the Clubhouse in July, as well as sign-ups for all the needed support workers. Autumn Upcoming Event – There are many talented and creative people living in our communities. Some of us meet on Thursday afternoons, while others prefer to work from their homes. Several people have expressed interest in a Craft Fair close to Christmas time when they could display and sell some of their work. Sooo... Saturday, November 10th has been reserved for a Craft Fair and Lunch Potluck. Table reservations will begin in October, but this notice will give you plenty of time to ready your wares. Watch for more information later. (Tables will be open to resident crafters only.) By-Laws Changes: Copies of the current version of the newly approved By-Laws will be available in the Clubhouse. Look for them near the coffee pots. Fall Flu Shots – In case you missed the announcement in the June Nuevas please be aware that there will be no flu shots offered this year in Pantera Lago. The shots are now available in so many locations. Esther Collins, President

Home Energy Management: The First Step Is Proper Maintenance – Preparing for a comfortable
heating season requires proper maintenance of your heat pump or furnace. A tune-up will help your
home heating system run at peak performance. Heat pump maintenance benefits include:
1. Peak Performance – Regular maintenance will help your furnace or heat pump perform at peak
performance which will help save money on your monthly utility bill. 2. Extend the life of your equipment – We all know that taking care of something will make it
last longer. This is especially true of heating & cooling equipment. You’ve made a substantial investment in your furnace, make sure to take care of it by scheduling yearly check-ups.
3. Increase your home safety – Having a professional HVAC company inspect your furnace will make sure to not only address performance issues but safety issues as well.
