Energy Security Strategy of the SR
Defines development and trend of the energy sector by 2030 by ensuring secure, reliable, effective supply of all forms of energies for acceptable prices taking into consideration consumer protection, environmental protection, sustainable development.
According to the Energy Security Strategy of the Slovak Republic, electricity consumption in Slovakia in 2030 could reach up to 43 112 GWh according to the reference scenario (average annual growth of 1,6%) which represents a significant increase in comparison with actual the state

Manifesto of the Government of the Slovak Republic
The Government will speed up the preparations for the construction of a new nuclear site in the area of Jaslovské Bohunice and will use all possibilities to accelerate the completion of the 3rd and 4th unit of the nuclear power plant in Mochovce. The main priority of the Government (in the nuclear energy sector) will be to attain high security standards for all nuclear facilities.

Main Projects:
Construction of Units 3 and 4 of NPP Mochovce – expected start of operation 2014 resp. 2015
Decommisioning of Units 1 and 2 of NPP Bohunice – 1. stage of decommisioning started in 2011
Decommissioning of NPP A-1 Bohunice – 2. stage of Decommissioning started in 2009
Works completed on the Feasibility Study and the baseline studies for the project of new nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice site. This key internal document is an essential basis for further decision-making on preparations for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Slovakia.

Regular 10 years Periodic Safety Review of NPP Bohunice V-2 finished in 2008 – licence for future operation for the next 10 years issued by regulatory body
Periodic safety review was conducted in Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility and license for further ISFSF operation for the next 10 years was issued by regulatory body in 2010
Regular 10 years Periodic Safety Review proceeded by NPP Mochovce 1,2 in 2011 – permission for future operation for the next 10 years issued by regulatory body

The Programme on Modernization and Improvement of NPP Bohunice V-2 safety completed in 2008
„Mochovce NPP Nuclear Safety Improvement Programme” was developed in the frame of unit 1 and 2 completion project
The severe accident management (SAM) implementation project was initiated in 2009 as the common NPP Bohunice V-2 and NPP Mochovce 1, 2 project with deadline in 2013 in NPP Bohunice and the follow-up implementation in NPP Mochovce 1, 2 (implementation accelerated after the Fukushima, with the new deadline 2015).

stress tests conducted at NPP Bohunice V-2, NPP Mochovce 1,2 and NPP Mochovce 3,4
National Action Plan based on results of stress tests evaluated:
The measures, from which some have been already implemented, are divided into the following groups:
- Short-term – to be finished by December 31, 2013
- Medium-term – to be finished by December 31, 2015
- Additional measures, which may result from analyses defined by medium-term measures, will be implemented after 2015
