What has changed after the upgrade? The Main Visible difference is that the SBR Gateway Button is now turned on at the bottom of the “Review FBT Return” form.

Lodgement Overview Before lodging a return using SBR you will need to have the relevant AUSKey credentials for the company lodging the return and enter the relevant details under the “Employer Details” section. These tags have been marked with a blue tag – SBR . beside the SBR Specific fields.

Fig 2.2 At the bottom of this page is also the area to identify the location where your AUSKey is stored.

FBT Required Information for SBR Before you can submit an FBT return using SBR the relevant fields must be completed under the “Employer Details” screens. In the new version there is an additional button to “Validate details”, this is used to check that required fields have been completed.

Fig 3.1 The additional data required by SBR are in the tabs Q9 and Q24-25 and they have been identified with the blue SBR mark. As an example - Q9 simply identifies if the Daytime contact number is a mobile phone or landline. Q24-25 is where the Declarations and AusKey information is located. There are two versions of information stored at this screen, the first for Tax Agents lodging on behalf of a client, the second where an Employer is lodging their own FBT return. Tax Agent Employer

The final type of information is where the company’s AUSKey is located. An Auskey consists of two parts, the location of the Keystore file and the specific credentials within the file.

Fig 3.4 If there is no keystore file listed as in Fig 5.4, or it is the wrong keystore click on the search button to open the Keystore Maintenance screen.

Fig 3.5 The four buttons for this screen (3.5) are

• Select File – Select the keystore file (using normal windows file selection) • View Credentials Matrix – used to select a specific business’ credentials when

the keystore contains multiple credentials. You simply open the screen and select an individual credential by double clicking on it.

• View Keystore File – diagnostic tool used to look at the detailed credentials in the keystore using an internet browser to view the XML data.

• Close this form – return to the previous screen. Please note that the NTAA does NOT issue keystores and can provide only limited support of this feature. Please contact the AUSKey Administrator for the Business or the AUSKey helpdesk on 1300 AUSKEY (1300 287 539). When you close the window the Keystore file and Credential ID fields should have the information updates as in the example below (3.6).

Submitting an FBT Return using the SBR

platform Once all data has been completed for the FBT return and you have reviewed the FBT Return data (Review FBT Return) you will see there is a new button available at the bottom of the FBT Summary screen (Fig 4.1) called SBR Gateway.

Fig 4.1 Clicking on the SBR Gateway button brings up the SBR Online Submission form.

Fig 4.2 There are two key types of submission available – “Data Validation” also known as “Pre-Lodge” and Lodgment. Every time you attempt to submit either a validation or lodge a return you will need to complete the following 4 steps (circled in red in the previous diagram.

• enter the AUSKey password; • select the process action (Validate or Lodge); • click on the I Agree box to accept the SBR privacy requirements and

conditions of use; and • click on the Run Process button to submit the FBT return for processing.

Once you submit a return it may take between 15-60 seconds to get a response from the process. This is a normal delay, especially for the first attempt to connect to the SBR service. If there is any missing data the Data Validation will fail, as in the examples below. The reason(s) that a submission has failed will be listed under the Lodgment Response tab. Some common errors are: Reason: Invalid AUSkey Credentials

Fig 4.3 Fig 4.4 If the Auskey credential used to lodge the request is wrong then go back to the employer details screen and check that the TFN, ABN, and Credential ID used are correct. Please note in the above example the AUSKey used was not AUTHORISED to submit FBT returns for this customer/ABN. Reason : Conflicting Data

Fig 4.5 Fig 4.6 In this example the credentials are correct but there are errors in the data. Again, it is necessary to return back to the employer details screen, correct the information and re-submit the validation.

Bad AUSKey Password provided The “WebServiceResponse file is missing” error will sometimes occur, in this case check the “Validation errors” tab for the reason:

Fig 4.7 è Fig 4.8 Once all validation errors are resolved you should get a Successful Validation message.

Fig 4.9 Once this has occurred you can lodge the FBT Return.

Amended Returns Once you have successfully submitted your FBT return for a taxpayer the Document lodgment status changes from “Lodgment of Original Details” to “Lodgment of amended details (Amendment No 1)”.

Fig 6.1 This time when you resubmit the FBT return you also need to enter the reason for amending the FBT return. The amendment reason code is simply identifying if it was an Agency or a Lodger error as in the examples Fig 6.2, Fig 6.3 below.
