Keeping children safe in Essex sexual offences against children under the age of 16 recorded by police in Essex last year. 1,180 1,062 children subject to a child protection plan in Essex. In 2016/17, our Speak out. Stay safe. volunteers and staff in Essex visited 207 schools and spoke to 48,545 children. With your help, over the next 3 years we can visit all in Essex. 597 schools We estimate around 8,000 of those children lived in Essex. J20161371 In Essex we worked with the community to help more parents talk PANTS and keep children safe. 2,051 calls and emails to our helpline about children in need of help in Essex last year. 1,701 of those were serious enough to be referred for further help from services such as the police and social services. Every time we work with a child or family, we’re learning how to give them the best support and gathering evidence to help us tackle child abuse in communities like yours. Helping children recover from abuse and working with families to prevent abuse. On average, a child somewhere in the UK contacts Childline every 25 seconds. 295,000 In 2016/17 our Childline volunteers delivered over counselling sessions to children and young people. One in three children in the UK have been a victim of online bullying. 1,720 children in care in Essex. We can only keep doing all this with your support. In Essex we worked with the community to help more parents talk
