DO OPERATE NRM Group and Network Health NRM groups and networks were asked to assess their health. Out of a possible five the average for: Groups: 2.8 Networks: 4.0 Average Group Health Average Network Health NRM Inputs NRM groups in the Goulburn Broken operated with a total budget of $2.02 million in 2012/13. These funds assisted NRM groups / networks with on-ground projects and employed staff to help coordinate their works. Grants for projects ranged from less than $5,000 up to $300,000+. The chart shows the main sources and number of grants received during 2012/13. 2012/13 NRM Funding Sources NRM Participation There are currently 96 active community NRM groups, seven Landcare Networks and five Conservation Management Networks in the Goulburn Broken region. Forty-one are incorporated in their own right or through the Farm Trees and Landcare Association, 57 groups have some sort of insurance and 42 groups are registered for GST. The total membership associated with the groups and networks who responded to the survey was 3697. The highest single group membership was 560 and the lowest five. NRM Activities During 2012-2013 NRM groups and networks conducted 221 field days involving over 6000 people. On-ground activities summary The 4336 volunteers (schools, service clubs, corporates and the general public) delivered the following on ground works: • 584ha of indigenous plant revegetation; • 589.5ha of remnant vegetation protection; • 1023.5ha of priority weeds were treated; • 70.65km of fencing to protect native vegetation or waterways; • 3895.2ha of pest animals controlled; • 33 newsletters were sent to 6612 individuals or organisations; and • 6140 students engaged (kinder to tertiary level). Employment of Support Staff Twenty-one employed staff have helped the NRM groups with their activities during 2012-2013. This included staff from Local NRM groups and networks, Goulburn Broken CMA, Department of Environment and Primary Industries and Campaspe and Murrindindi Shire Councils. This highlights the Goulburn Broken CMA’s “all-agencies” approach to providing assistance to our community NRM groups and networks.
