Today’s increasing network complexity requires an increased level of intelligence to evaluate network and service performance and take action to improve it. Data collected during measurements campaigns represent a mine of information, but without a proper analysis layer the potential of such information remains unexploited. While evaluating the collected data is imperative, critical decisions should be made based on automatically validated data that is in accordance with the highest quality standards.

SwissQual’s Network Quality Data Investigator NQDI II is the post processing system that maximizes the poten-tial of collected measurement data for network and service optimization and benchmarking. Based on data from all radio technologies, service quality and network information, NQDI II provides automated data validation, detailed quality analysis and troubleshooting, and long-term reporting.

Key Use CaseBusiness intelligence for benchmarking and optimizationNowadays, mobile operators need to reconcile decreasing revenues from traditional communication services with in-creasing CAPEX and OPEX investments that are necessary to manage the increased data usage. With innovative services and superior subscriber quality (QoE), they want to differentiate themselves from the competition and thus look for ways to make networks more efficient through focused investments.

High-quality benchmarking has proven to be highly bene-ficial to top mobile operators facing those challenges: it provides a reliable, accurate, and reproducible way to mea-sure their subscribers’ QoE and to compare themselves against competitors. A challenge, however, is to navigate through the vast amount of data collected during bench-marking campaigns and to derive actionable insights. Product HighlightsSlice-and-dice data enables faster and greater insightsNQDI II empowers users to browse through the entire collection of measurement data for network and service optimization and benchmarking. For fast information access, all data is processed through the NQDI II OLAP cubes. Data can also be filtered without waiting times, statistical results can be created on the fly. In a user- friendly graphical interface, results are presented in a consistent manner so that engineers, but also executives, can quickly find relevant information. This is particularly helpful when comparing information for trending and historical analysis. Multi-dimensional presentation capa-bilities with slicing-and-dicing functions offer powerful and valuable insights from the collected data. Reporting is easy and interactive thanks to the possibility to con-veniently change dimensions, values, filters, views, etc.

Use case driven operation results with ease of useThe logical workflows in NQDI II guide users through the whole process of turning measurement data into valuable insights. OLAP cubes are open and can be directly accessed using third party tools such as Excel.

Map Plotting Geospatial business intelligence with drilldown on layered polygons using online maps such as Google Maps and OpenStreetMap. On top of layered polygons with aggre-gated information, one can add point layers to indicate the exact position of events.
