The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC) was first established as the Association for Supporting Science and Technology in 1967.
We were reorganized as the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity in 2008 in accordance with the amendment of the Framework Act on
Science and Technology and designated as a national R&D institute in 2011. To meet the social need of developing a culture that promotes science & technology and
fostering creative talents, we have remained committed to our key objective, throughout our history.

A Leap Towards a Brighter Future
For many years, science and technology have brought innovation
and happiness to our lives.
Now, it’s time for Korea to lead the future, adding imagination
and creativity to science and technology.
For half a century, with constant changes and innovation,
KOFAC has become the center for spreading science culture and
nurturing creative talents. As a spring board for a new paradigm,
we aim to lay the cultural foundation where creativity and
imagination can be unfolded and sow seeds for creativity and
passion by nurturing creative talents.
KOFAC will stand in the midst of a great leap towards an
advanced nation of science and technology.

Out-of-school science classes for youths with science lectures, experiments, and creative hands-on activities provided in local community centers nation-wide.
Korea science & Creativity Festival
Korea’s largest science festival comprised of excellent science culture contents and hands-on programs for the public to observe, experience and interact with science and its communities.
Youth science Club (YsC) and national Youth science Competition
Supporting the Youth Science Clubs and the National Youth Science Competition to promote joint research activities of youths and increase scientific knowledge and interests.
Local science Festival
Regional Science and Culture Festivals are held in 14 local government regions (excluding metropolitan regions) in order to standardize opportunities of experiencing science among different regions, and to assist a balanced regional development.
