NOVEMBER 2011Hello Everyone,

Already we are well into the fall season as the kids have been back to school for a couple of months and we are now gearing up for the holidays. As you read this, the Halloween Parade downtown and the Zombie Crawl will be in the books as successful events. Thanks to all of our volunteers and to organizers Lisa & Shane Duncan of Monkey Wrench Studio for their vision of the new Zombie Crawl event and their work to make it happen.

Our Golf Outing was once again a great event with the Glen Ellyn Lions Club in September. Special thanks go to the Golf Committee and co-chairs Katie Cass of Massage Envy Spa and Matthew Schwerin from CAPS Financial, who did another fantastic job this year.

As we near the home stretch of 2011, our Nominating Committee has been hard at work for the past six weeks putting together nominees for the 2012 Chamber Board Officers and Directors. This slate of candidates will be voted on at our November 8 luncheon at the new Waterleaf restaurant at College of DuPage, so make sure to register online or contact the office as it is important to have that luncheon well attended and representative of the Chamber membership.

With November closing in, our Holiday Walk is fast approaching on Friday the 25th, the day after Thanksgiving. This event is always a lot of fun for the entire family and is the perfect time to patronize all of our outstanding downtown shops and restaurants in Glen Ellyn. It also marks the start of our weekly holiday-themed movies offered in conjunction with the Glen Art Theater.

Patrick Temesvary of EMC Mortgage Financial and his Christmas Committee are working on plans for the annual Chamber Holiday Party in early December. Watch your email inbox for the details of this festive celebration.

I would personally like to thank our staff of Mike, Georgia, Renee and Allison for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Without their support and all of our fabulous volunteers, our events would never get off the ground.

I look forward to seeing you all out and about for the holidays. Meanwhile, have a great rest of the fall season.

Owner Sandy Moore opened AliKat Boutique on September 21, 2006. Before becoming a mom, Sandy was in the financial service industry. After staying home for several years with her children, she began looking around for something she could do and still be close to home. Her love of boutiques and finding new things drew her to open her own business. She felt the teen segment was under-represented in town. Now AliKat Boutique offers something for just about

everyone—including pets. Her customers have come to appreciate her for one stop shopping and for the free gift wrapping. Sandy is appreciative of her great staff and their commitment to good customer service.
