On October 4th, we began the F.A.S.T. Kids activity to reach our neighborhood children. Thanks to all of you who are committing to making F.A.S.T. Kids a successful outreach. I know that there aren’t as many as we hoped, but I believe that God is blessing our efforts. If we consistently love these kids, we will see them respond. You are all doing a great job and I’m, proud of your efforts. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Mark 10:14) I believe that Jesus had a special place in His heart for children and that it is important that His church reach out to them. We are even beginning to connect with their parents. YEA!
November is the beginning of the holiday season and we are all going to be extremely busy preparing for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year. This can be an extremely stressful time for many people. Often we fall into the trap of expectations others place on us. Add to that our own expectations and desires to bless others and the stresses can be overwhelming. Therefore, I want to recommend something that may help you retain a healthy perspective of what the holidays are all about. Each of you has received a subscription to Right Now Media. In that subscription is a simple study called “The Christmas Experience” by Kyle Idleman that is a step by step reminder of the meaning of Christmas. I highly recommend that you invest a little time in this study. It will be a blessing.
On November 18th at 4:00, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving here at the church. This is a time when we will give thanks for all the blessings God has poured out on us this past year and consider how we might serving Him in the year to come. Perhaps volunteer in a local ministry or, considering the recent fires, with California Disaster Relief. Perhaps go on an international mission trip. No, you’re not too old. Maybe, undertake the most difficult mission trip of all, the one next door or across the street in your own neighborhood. If you haven’t gone on mission, you have missed a great blessing.
As we enter the month of November, I want to encourage you to continue in your commitment to read the Bible through in a year. Every time I read through the word I find something new. How about you? Have you found a gem of wisdom that you can apply to your life, something that gives you hope, or encouragement? The Bible is a love letter written to every believer just full of expressions of God’s great love for you.
As we enter this season of Thanksgiving, remember to thank the one who gave himself for you so that you could spend eternity in heaven with Him. Give thanks for His forgiveness, grace and mercy.
Think about that,
Pastor Mike
