Dear Parents & Guardians,
Our fabulous fall weather is most likely behind us now as the cooler weather was bound to appear! This point in time provides a great opportunity to meet with
to date. Upcoming Parent Teacher meetings will take place Thursday November 16th (evening) and the morning of
reports going home Tuesday
gathered from these meetings certainly assists both home and school in supporting our students in every way we can and gives students an opportunity to make adjustments to their learning and work habits prior to the first report card in February. In order to make the most of these specific meetings, here are some suggestions: Read your child’s progress report and make
that you’d like to discuss. At the interview, relax, feel confident and be

the positive things the teacher said. Talk about how you and the teacher are going to work together to help your child improve.
By working together to support your child’s learning, we can both put a plan into place that will ensure success.

School Bus
Cancellations
and/or Delays Student safety is our utmost concern. As
such, there may be times during the school
year when it is necessary to cancel student
transportation services due to bad weather
(ie. Snow, freezing rain, floods, emergency
road closures, etc). Transportation to and
from school is provided by the Renfrew
County Joint Transportation Consortium
(RCJTC).
RCJTC will provide information on bus
cancellations and/or delays via:

“RCJTC”) Google Play with Android App (verify
with “RCJTC”) Email to parents who subscribe for
notifications (confirmation email sent
within 3 minutes). See page 5 for
instructions to sign up.
In a situation where school buses
are cancelled, schools remain open
to students.

responsible for their own transportation to these functions.
FOOD ALLERGIES We have a number of students who have severe
life threatening allergies to nuts. Please refrain
from sending in nut products (or those that
may contain traces of nuts) if there are children
with allergies in your child’s classroom.
PERMISSION TO LEAVE SCHOOL Students require written permission to leave
school property throughout the day as we must
know where each child is at all times to ensure
safety.

ATTENTION PARENTS & GUARDIANS
Requests for Verification of Student Addresses and/or custody Arrangements
for Revenue Canada and/or Court Proceedings
Student demographic information is provided to schools by a custodial parent/guardian (or student if the pupil is 18+). ‘It is the practice of the Renfrew County District School Board to collect, use, retain and disclose personal information in the course of meeting its statutory duties and responsi-bilities. The school board is committed to the protection of privacy and complies with all applicable provisions of the Education Act, the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act, and any other applicable legislation.’ As a general rule, requests for letters to verify this information should not be granted. Requests for letters verifying student addresses and/or 'living with' arrangements would only be considered by the pupil's home school, the school holding the OSR, if all of the following criteria are met:
a request for information letter is received from a lawyer representing the parent/guardian of a pupil or representing a pupil who is 16+
the letter is accompanied by an appropriate consent form signed by the parent/guardian of the pupil or by a pupil who is 16+
the letter is to be addressed to the school's Superintendent of Education and will then be forwarded to the appropriate school to complete the request
It is recommended that the response letter includes a disclaimer that states the information con-tained in the letter has been provided to the school by the parent/guardian, or pupil, is not neces-sarily verified by the school and, as such, the school or Board cannot be held responsible for any errors or omissions. The parent/guardian of a pupil may be asked to provide proof that they are the primary caregiver and that the pupil lived with them during the period under review. Documents signed and certified by the child's school are only one of several documents that may be asked for by the Canada Reve-nue Agency. As there are other potential means for the parent/guardian to provide this proof, re-quests would only be considered by the pupil's home school, the school holding the OSR, if the same criteria are met as noted above for court proceedings. If you have any questions or concerns, please send a reply email. Thank you.
Thank you everyone for your donations to FARM CREDIT CANADA and The Cobden Food Bank. We raised 1,205 lbs/meals for needy families in our local area Mrs. Oakes’ class collects 5x per year. This one was a little different than the usual collections The class will resume collections mid-December. Here is a pic of our bulletin board in the school. We are being entered in a draw for $1,000.
