Welcome to our newest District 10 Toastmasters club, Speaking Healthy. The kickoff meeting for the MetroHealth System community club was held in August and, less than a month later, the club chartered with 29 members. Congratulations to club sponsors Michelle Mencke and Ed Larson, and special thanks to administrator Andrea Flynn. We wish the new club much success. What can you do to spread the benefits of Toastmasters? Do you work or volunteer in an organization where employees or members would benefits from improved presentation or networking skills? Could sharper interviewing or off-the-cuff com- munication skills or better leadership skills help anyone you know? Invite that person to your next club meeting! Not Just Officers Training! Judges Training - Tall Tale Judges Contest
Just in time for the Inspirational Speech com- petition, we will be presenting a new Judges Training with a special twist - a contest on site with open judges’ comments! A few willing speakers will present a Tall Tale speech for a select panel of judges. Each judge will reveal their scores, opinions, and show us how judging works in a Toastmasters contest. We will show you the techniques, tips, and tricks to being a great judge. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to be trained by D10’s best.
A buffet lunch will be available at the training. We don’t want you to faint from hunger after you get all the information you’ll need to grow your club to Distinguished next year. Could You Coach? If you have a passion for Toastmasters and a desire to see all members make the most of their Toastmasters membership, you have what it takes to be a club coach. A club coach guides a club that has 12 or fewer members to success. “Success” in the Toastmasters world means Distinguished status – as measured by the Distinguished Club Program. Coaching a struggling club to success earns the coach credit toward the Advanced Leader Silver award. Credit for coaching a club will transfer to the Pathways program. Coaching can be a very rewarding experience. A club can have one or two coaches, but a club must first request a coach. Toastmaster Dan Toussant is looking for helpers in this 10 week daytime meets once a week endeavor. He’ll run the show. You will help and learn. A great high performance leadership project. Are you interested in an elected District 10 leadership position? Or is there a fellow member you believe is interested and who you would like to nominate for an elected district office? Elected district offices are: •DistrictDirector •ProgramQualityDirector •ClubGrowthDirector •DivisionDirectors: Central, Eastern, Northern, Southern and WesternOfficer terms begin on July 1, 2017, and end on June 30, 2018. Although the deadline for receipt of nomination forms is February 10, 2017, the nominating committee chair wants to hear from you and will begin scheduling interviews beginning in January. The earlier we hear from you the more time we will have to accommodate everyone’s calendar. The committee will review the nomination forms and interview each potential candidate. The Nominations Committee Report will be given to Dave Wiley, DTM, District 10’s current District Director. District 10 will hold the elections of District 10’s officers during the Spring 2017 conference. The nominating committee looks forward to hearing from you.

On a recent trip to Texas they were interviewed by a Christian Newspaper, The Good News Just Keeps Coming.
