Dorothy Sherman Cornflowers by the Roadside Monday, November 8 7 – 7:30 pm This coming-of-age novel set in Milwaukee during the Depression was penned by an Elginite of more than 50 years. Dorothy Sherman was a student at Elgin High School in the 1940’s, owned a dry cleaning business on Liberty Street for 25 years, and was a minister at South Elgin Community Methodist Church.
