Most of the time, people have a delicious meal with their family and enjoy a good game of football. The dinner may include turkey, dressing, desserts, and more. Many people enjoy people for many reasons. The traditions that Thanksgiving carry will be passed on from generation to generation. Many people are very excited to see what this year’s Thanksgiving will hold for us. By Mason Velazquez & Emmett Tenney Read Under the Stars, is back again, and is now better than ever. The event for this school year will take place at the Melissa High School football field from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 28. And now unlike last Read Under the Stars Melissa schools are Thanksgiving, because students and teachers get a week off of school. This is a great time for us to relax, spend time with our families, and eat delicious Thanksgiving meals. “I like Thanksgiving because I like to spend time with family and I enjoy the food,” Faith Fortenberry said. “Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays,” she added. There are many traditions students have with their family for this special day. Some of the traditions involve where they go, what they eat, and what they do. Each family may have something special they do every year. Thanksgiving has been around for many centuries. Since then this holiday has been special to invited, including Harry McKillop Elementary. There will also be a big flashlight giveaway to the first 125 students to show up. “I think it is a great opportunity for all the students in Melissa Middle School to come together and read under the stars,” Camryn Green said. By Staff Writer The MMS Performing Arts is set to present their one act play, The Great Pandemonium, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in a special preview at Melissa High School, to prepare for the UIL competition Dec. 2 at Celina. The cast has been working after school to prepare for the event. Last year’s cast took second place, which makes first place all the more desireable this year. “If we truly tell our story, then we have done our part,” Director Louise Hickey said. Hickey hopes several will travel to Celina to support the team.
