Notices for week commencing 31 July 2016 Loving God, we thank you for the freedom and opportunity to meet for worship in our local churches, where we find fellowship and support from other Christians. As we join our worship with Christians worldwide, we pray especially for those who do not enjoy this freedom. Forgive us if we sometimes use our church communities as a retreat from the world outside. Challenge us, that in our daily living we may no longer be bound by the norms and values around us, but live in the way of Jesus Christ, making a difference wherever we are. We’ve been fortunate to get this attractive exhibition of 33 scenes from the Bible, lovingly knitted by Hartlepool URC and allowed to be borrowed by churches around the country. We need volunteers to welcome and chat to visitors and to serve refreshments. This promises to be a great experience and gives us an opportunity to share the Bible with visitors – or to wash more dishes in the kitchen if that’s what you prefer. All talents are needed. The rota is on the door in the kitchen. Anne Hasson (75818)

Keswick Convention : 16 July-5 August We’ve now reached the final week of

the Keswick Convention! The theme this year is Power to change : becoming like God’s Son – God has one main purpose for his people: that we should become like his Son.

There are lots of interesting seminars, bible studies and events over the three weeks and in different venues. In Week 3 there are 9.30am seminars in various locations and on different themes, Bible Readings on Isaiah and The Word on Romans at 2.30pm. Two extra strands this week are Keswick Unconventional (mainly at St John’s) and Global Tour 9.30am most mornings where we can have a whistlestop tour around the world, learning about the exciting growth of the gospel, challenges and prayer needs. You can buy a Handbook at the Convention Centre for £5; it gives lots of information about every event. The Convention’s a great resource for all Christians – and it’s in Keswick!

There’s also Base Camp on the Rawnsley site where you can find out more about mission, visit the bookshop and Tearfund café.

And you don’t even have to go to the Convention! You can watch the Bible Readings and Evening Celebrations by live-stream on YouTube and Clayton TV – details on the Keswick Ministries website at keswickministries.org.uk.

Keswick Convention Week 3 : 1-5 August There are still a few spaces in our rota this week. Come and join the team serving teas and coffees, soup, cakes, scones and crisps to Conventioners and others. We’re back in the church hall this week! We’re having a great time meeting and serving people and you’d be very welcome. We’ll also have our fundraising ‘shop’ on the go too. If you’d like to know more please have a chat. Anne & David Hasson (75818/07788 990515)

Let them eat cake! Well, those attending the Convention are certainly enjoying the homemade cakes and scones on sale and we need to bake some more! We also need to stock up for the Knitted Bible

Exhibition which runs immediately after the Convention. Please can you bake as before and if you’d like to be reimbursed the cost of ingredients, please pass the receipts to Sally, Anne or David in an envelope marked for the attention of the Treasurer with your name on. Thank you so much, we really don't want to run out and have our visitors going hungry!!!!

To all our visitors

You’re very welcome to our church today. We hope you enjoy worshipping with us. Please sign our visitors' book and put a pin on the map which is in the Grisedale Room (as you came into church). We’d welcome any suggestions you might have to help us improve our hospitality.

Children are welcome in our services. A box of toys and activities is normally available if you need them. If you prefer, you may sit in the hall, where you’ll still be able to hear the service. Please ask a Steward if you need any help.

Please keep in touch with us throughout the year through our website and our Facebook page.

Loop System: We have a loop system for those who wear a hearing aid.

Hymn Books: We normally sing from Singing the Faith and most Sundays the words are projected onto the screen. However during the Convention we use our special Convention Hymn booklets. Look out for their yellow covers in the pews and on the chairs. Please share between two if there are not enough in your row.

Website & Facebook Our website is www.keswickmethodistchurch.org.uk. Please visit us there. You can also follow us on Facebook. We’ll be putting up regular posts about Vision21 as our redevelopment proceeds. And you can follow the

travels of the I♥KESWICK bag here too. The website

and Facebook are good ways to keep up to date on what we’re doing.
