Visual Presentation and Descriptive Explanations
Task Description:
Requirement One: Students will construct a presentation that reflects an
imaginative world of their own creation. Students work should be
aesthetically engaging and organised in a way that shows logic, care and
imagination.
Requirement Two: Students MUST include written
descriptions/explanations of their world. Students will use subheadings to
write their descriptions/explanations and include these in their assessment.
The subheadings may include details such as:
• Explanation of the physical landscape and environment
• Weather
• Inhabitants
• Societal expectations, rules or laws
• Dress
• Customs, traditions or values
• Currency
• Sport
• Hobbies
• History
Students should include a minimum of four subheadings and their assessment
should be approximately 250 words.
Outcomes:
EN4-2A – effectively uses a widening range of processes, skills, strategies and knowledge
for responding to and composing texts in different media and technologies.
EN4-7D – demonstrates understanding of how texts can express aspects of their broadening
world and their relationships within it.
General Capabilities: Critical and creative thinking, ICT, Intercultural understanding,
Literacy, Personal and social capability.
Marking Criteria:
You will be assessed on how well you:
• Create a refined final product that reflects your imagined world
• Use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, paragraphs and vocabulary.
• Write effective descriptions/explanations that reveal your imagined world to
the reader
• Submit a final product that demonstrates care, consideration and imagination
Here are some questions to consider about your imaginative world…
• What makes your world better than the real world?
• Where is it? Who lives there?
• What are the rules and laws of your world?
• What is the history of your world? Has there been any major
events?
• Who is the leader of your world and what are they like? Is there a
leader?
• What does your world look like?
• Who are the inhabitants of your world and how do they live?
You may like to include:
• Maps
• Sketches of landmarks
• Drawings of traditional dress
• Photos of historical figures
• Pictures of what your land looks like

Autobiographical Picture Book
Task Description:
Students are to create an autobiographical picture book, using visual literacy and written text.
Students can create their picture book either digitally or by hand.
Students are to demonstrate their understanding of visual literacy, the concepts studied in class
and how to write an autobiography.
Outcomes:
EN4-2A – effectively uses a widening range of processes, skills, strategies and knowledge for
responding to and composing texts in different media and technologies.
EN4-7D – demonstrates understanding of how texts can express aspects of their broadening world
and their relationships within it.
General Capabilities: Critical and creative thinking, ICT, Intercultural understanding,
Literacy, Personal and social capability.
Curriculum Priorities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
Marking Criteria:
You will be assessed on how well you
· Create an autobiographical picture book.
· Demonstrates knowledge of understanding of visual literacy.
· Uses correct spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and grammar.
Assessment Policy: When an assessment task is given, a due date for completion and handing in will
be set. If this date cannot be met, for a valid reason, the STUDENT must negotiate with the Head
Teacher prior to that date. If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to complete the task on their
return.
WHERE THERE IS NO VALID REASON FOR NON-COMPLETION OF AN ASSESSMENT
TASK, A ZERO MARK MUST BE RECORDED FOR THAT TASK.
