The RUBBLE MASTER team has grown from a one-man

show to more than 300 professionals who share Gerald

Hanisch’s enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to the cus-

tomer. Yet RUBBLE MASTER remains a privately-owned,

said. “They’ve got decent magnetic separators.” But Gerald

knew his vision was worth pursuing. He knew there was a

void in the marketplace. Most importantly, he believed in the

quo. This led to the development of the first compact crusher

and the launch of RUBBLE MASTER in 1991. Both were and

Decades later, RUBBLE MASTER continues to be driven by a

deep passion to change the game, constantly looking for ways

to improve. How can performance be enhanced? How can the

operation of crushers be simplified? How can customer feed-

back be implemented? What features would make these

products better? What customer needs can we fill?

For example, customers would often ask for RUBBLE

MASTER screens, even though the company never manufac-

tured screens. But customers wanted the same level of

quality and reliability in their screens as they had in their

crushers. Never one to leave a customer request unan-

swered, Gerald jumped at the chance to acquire its screen

supplier in 2018.

Heading into the 1990s, every recycling crusher on the mar-

ket was big, heavy, clumsy, loud, and extremely difficult to

move. The industry operated under the notion that “bigger is

better.” As a result, onsite crushing of concrete, asphalt,

stone, and other materials was virtually impossible due to the

noise and bulkiness of the crushers of the day. Contractors

would have to pay to haul away and dispose of material, and

then buy back crushed material to use as filler, base, or bed-

ding on job sites.

Gerald Hanisch believed this was unacceptable. He had a

vision for a smaller, quieter crusher that could be brought to

construction sites, even in rough terrain or urban areas.

Gerald’s vision for a compact crusher would offer the mobility

and easy operation required by contractors to crush onsite

so they wouldn’t have to haul material away. However, his

crusher would still deliver the power and performance to

meet the demands of large recyclers, demolition companies,

and quarries.

The big mechanical engineering companies scoffed at the

idea. “We’ll simply toss these toys into our crushers,” they
