     TELEVISION - - The game will be televised by ESPN. The announc-

    ers are Steve Levy, Brock Huard and Shannon Spake.

    THE RECORDS - - Iowa is 4-0, with wins over Illinois State (31-14), at Iowa State (31-17), Pisburgh (27-24) and North Texas(62-16). The Hawkeyes were 7-6 last season, earning a trip tothe 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl. Iowa was 4-4 in Big Ten play and 3-2 innonconference games last season.

    Wisconsin is 3-1, having won home games against Miami, Ohio(58-0), Troy (28-3) and Hawaii (28-0). The Badgers dropped a 35-17neutral site contest to Alabama. Wisconsin was 11-3 a year ago,winning the Big Ten West Division with a 7-1 record.

    THE SERIES - - Wisconsin holds a 44-42-2 advantage in the seriesthat began with a 44-0 Badger win in 1894. Wisconsin has wonthe last three meengs to take the series lead, winning 26-24 inKinnick Stadium a year ago. Iowa is making its rst appearance inCamp Randall Stadium since a 20-10 victory in 2009. Wisconsinholds a 26-18-1 advantage in games played in Madison.

    THE HEARTLAND TROPHY - - Iowa and Wisconsin have baledfor the Heartland Trophy since 2004. Wisconsin holds a 5-4 ad-vantage with the Heartland Trophy at stake. The Badgers havepossession of the trophy following their 26-24 win last Novemberin Kinnick Stadium.

     COACHING RECORDS - - Kirk Ferentz is in his 20th year as acollege head coach and his 17th year as Iowa’s head coach. Hiscareer record is 131-106 and he is 119-85 at Iowa. He is the 12thBig Ten Conference coach to win 100 games.

    Paul Chryst is in his rst year as the Wisconsin head coach and hisfourth year as a college head coach. His mark is 3-1 at Wisconsinand 22-20 overall. Chryst was the head coach at Pi the last threeseasons. Chryst was previously a Wisconsin assistant for eightseasons and also played quarterback (1985-87) for the Badgers.

    Head coach Kirk Ferentz has 119 wins as a member of the Big Ten Conference, tying

    Barry Alvarez (119) for ninth in conference history. Alvarez won 119 games in parts of 18

    seasons at Wisconsin.

    The Hawkeyes are trying to improve to 5-0 for the rst me since 2009, and the fourth

    me under Kirk Ferentz.

    Saturday marks the 13th me in Kirk Ferentz’s 17 years at Iowa that the Hawkeyes open

    the conference season on the road. Iowa has won its last two Big Ten openers (24-10 at

    Purdue in 2014; 23-7 at Minnesota in 2013).

    Junior QB C.J. Beathard is undefeated in ve career starts. He is 3-0 at home, 2-0 on the

    road, and 1-0 in the Big Ten. The last Iowa quarterback to win his rst six career starts was

    Ma Sherman, who won seven from 1994-95.

    Junior QB C.J. Beathard started Iowa’s conference opener in 2014. The Hawkeyes won,

    24-10, at Purdue in his rst career start.

    Senior RB Jordan Canzeri leads the Big Ten and is ed for fourth naonally with eight rush-

    ing touchdowns. He entered his senior season with two career rushing touchdowns in 29

    career games.

    The Hawkeyes average 37.8 points per game, No. 2 in the conference and their highest

    average since 2011, when they also scored 151 points (34, 41, 31, 45) in their rst four

    games.

    Iowa leads the Big Ten in red zone oense. Wisconsin leads the Big Ten in red zone de -

    fense.

    Iowa is one of two schools yet to allow a rushing touchdown (Navy). The Hawkeyes yield

    an average of 84.0 rushing yards per game, fourth best in the Big Ten and 12th naonally.

    Since 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s rst year as UI head coach, the Hawkeyes have had a future NFL

    player start on the oensive line in every season. Five Iowa graduates are acve oensive

    tackles in the NFL, more than any other school (Virginia also has ve).

      Saturday will be the 89th meeng between Iowa and Wisconsin. The teams

    had met 16 consecuve years from 1995-2010 before the series was disrupted by

    conference realignment in 2011. Through 88 games, Wisconsin leads 44-42-2.

    The Badgers have won three straight in the series.

    • Iowa opens Big Ten play at Wisconsin on Saturday. This marks the 13th me in

    Kirk Ferentz’s 17 years at Iowa that the Hawkeyes open the conference season

    on the road.

    • Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is 8-8 in Big Ten openers, including 5-7 on the

    road and 3-1 at home.

    • The Hawkeyes have won their last two conference-season openers, both on

    the road (24-10 at Purdue in 2014; 23-7 at Minnesota in 2013).

    • Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz has 119 wins as a member of the Big Ten Confer-

    ence, tying Barry Alvarez (119) for ninth in conference history. Alvarez won 119

    games in parts of 18 seasons at Wisconsin. He is the current Wisconsin athlec

    director and previously served as an assistant coach under Hayden Fry at Iowa.

    • Iowa averages 37.8 points per game, No. 2 in the conference. Wisconsin allows

    HEARTLAND TROPHY 

      Wisconsin has a 5-4 advantage in the series since the two teams began playing

    for the Heartland Trophy in 2004.

      The trophy was designed and craed by arst and former Iowa football player

    Frank Strub. The trophy, which is a bull mounted on a walnut base (nave to both

    Wisconsin and Iowa), has the scores of all previous games between the two schools

    inscribed on it. The Heartland Trophy became the 16th Big Ten football travelingtrophy.

    The Iowa-Wisconsin series has been the closest and most compeve of all Big

    Ten series, with Wisconsin holding a slim edge, 44-42-2 aer claiming the most

    LAST MEETING: Wisconsin 26, Iowa 24 (Nov. 22, 2014 at Kinnick Stadium)

      Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns to lead

    No. 14 Wisconsin to a 26-24 win over Iowa in Kinnick Stadium.

    The teams exchanged eld goals in the rst quarter before Wisconsin reeled-

    o 16 straight points in the second and third periods.

    The Hawkeyes closed to within 19-17 with 11:10 remaining in the contest with

    a Kevonte Marn-Manley 20-yard touchdown recepon and a Jake Rudock 3-yardscoring run. Jordan Canzeri converted a two-point conversion aer Marn-Man-

    ley’s recepon, but the Hawkeyes failed to convert a second two-point conversion

    aempt following the Rudock score.

      The Badgers answered with Gordon’s

    23-yard touchdown run to increase their

    advantage to 26-17 with 7:44 remaining.

    Iowa quickly countered with a 7-play, 86-

    yard drive in 2:43 that culminated with a

    Jake Duzey 9-yard scoring recepon to close

    within 26-24 with 5:01 remaining. Wisconsin

    then converted two rst downs on its nal

    drive to run out the clock.

      Rudock accounted for three touchdowns,

    throwing for two (20 and nine yards) and

    rushing for another (three yards). He completed 20-of-30 passes for 311 yards,

    marking the third me in his career that he surpassed 300 yards passing.

      Mark Weisman and Canzeri combined for 76 yards rushing on 20 carries. Tevaun

    Smith caught four passes for a game-high 78 yards, while Duzey had four catches

    for 72 yards and a score.

      Wisconsin kicker Rafael Gaglianone made eld goals of 50 and 22 yards, while

    Iowa’s Marshall Koehn converted his only aempt (22 yards).

      Iowa totaled 412 yards of total oense. Eight dierent Hawkeye defenders ac-

    counted for Iowa’s seven tackles for loss. SS John Lowdermilk led the Hawkeyes

    in tackles (12) for the fourth consecuve game. FS Jordan Lomax had 10 stops,

    while CB Greg Mabin and LB Bo Bower each registered seven.

      TAKING 151 TO 151

      When the Hawkeyes travel north on Highway 151 this weekend, they’ll do

    so with an oense that has totaled 151 points through four games, the second

    highest total in the conference (Indiana, 153).

      The 151 points scored (37.8 ppg) through four games is Iowa’s highest total

    since 2011, when it also scored 151 points (34, 41, 31, 45). The most points scored

    through four games in the Kirk Ferentz era is 165 by the 2002 team that nished

    11-2 overall and set a school record for scoring in a season (484 points).

    WE’LL GO FIRST 

      Iowa received the opening kicko in all four games this season. The Hawkeyes

    have scored touchdowns on two of four opening drives and has outscored its

    opponents 27-3 in the rst quarter.

      In 17 seasons as Iowa’s head coach, Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes received

    the opening kicko in 166-of-204 games (99-67). Iowa has started the game on

    FERENTZ TIES ALVAREZ 

      Head coach Kirk Ferentz has 119 wins as a member of the

    Big Ten Conference, tying Barry Alvarez (119) for ninth in con-

    ference history. Alvarez won 119 games in parts of 18 seasons

    at Wisconsin. Ferentz is three wins shy of tying Lloyd Carr for

    eighth all-me (122).

      Ferentz has 68 Big Ten wins, the 10th most in conferencehistory. He trails John Cooper (Ohio State) by two wins for ninth

    all-me.

      Only eight coaches rank in the top 10 in both categories:

    overall wins as a member of the Big Ten, and conference wins.

    The others include Woody Hayes (OSU), Amos Alonzo Stagg

    (CHI), Bo Schembechler (MICH), Hayden Fry (IOWA), Robert

    Zuppke (ILL), Lloyd Carr (MICH), and Alvarez (WIS).

      Ferentz also has six bowl wins as a member of the Big Ten,

    tying Fry and Carr for No. 2 all-me. Only Alvarez has more

    (nine).

    STARTING 5  The Hawkeyes are 4-0 for the fourth me under Kirk Ferentz.

    A win Saturday would be Iowa’s second 5-0 start in the Ferentz

    era (2000). The 2009 Hawkeyes won their rst nine games,

    nished 11-2 overall, and won the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl.

    Iowa enters the conference poron of its schedule unde-

    feated for the fourth me since 1999. The Hawkeyes were 3-0

    in 2009 and 2006, and 4-0 in 2003.

      FERENTZ SECOND IN LONGEVITY 

      Kirk Ferentz is in his 17th season as Iowa’s head football

    coach and ranks second in longevity among FBS head coaches.

    Ferentz is rst among Big Ten coaches and naonally ranks

    behind Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer (28). Ferentz is ed forsecond with Bob Stoops of Oklahoma.

      THE FOURTH QUARTER  QB C.J. Beathard and the Hawkeyes’ rush defense have

    dominated the fourth quarter in 2015. Iowa’s rush defense, the

    No. 4 defense in the conference, has yielded 59 total rushing

    yards in the fourth quarter this season. That includes a 55-yard

    eort from North Texas against Iowa reserves.

    Beathard is 14-of-17 passing for 206 yards and one touch-

    down. His 142.6 quarterback rang in the fourth quarter leads

    the conference. He has also rushed six mes for 35 yards and

    one touchdown in the fourth quarter this season. He has en-gineered game-winning drives in the fourth quarter two mes

    this season (Iowa State, Pi). He was 4-of-4 for 46 yards and a

    touchdown against Iowa State, and he rushed for 27 yards on

    three carries to set up K Marshall Koehn’s 57-yard game win-

    ning eld goal against Pi.

     In Iowa’s last ve games, including the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl,

    Beathard’s fourth quarter numbers include 21-of-24 passing

    for 301 yards and three touchdowns, and eight carries for 73

    yards and one touchdown. Beathard did not play in the fourth

    quarter against North Texas.

    RUSH DEFENSE… NO TOUCHDOWNS FOR YOU 

      Iowa is one of two schools yet to allow a rushing touchdown (Navy). The

    Hawkeyes yield an average of 84.0 rushing yards per game, fourth best in the Big

    Ten and 12th naonally.

    Iowa limits its opponents to 2.65 yards per carry (82 aempts, 153 yards), 12th

    best in the country.

    2-FOR-2 AGAINST POWER 5

      Iowa recorded two wins against Power 5 schools in its nonconference sched-

    ule: Iowa State, 31-17, and Pi, 27-24. The Hawkeyes were one of only two Big

    Ten schools with two wins against teams from a Power 5 league. The other was

    Northwestern (Stanford, Duke).

    6 THE OTHER WAY 

      Iowa returned two intercepons for touchdowns in Week 4 against North Texas.

    LB Josey Jewell recorded the rst intercepon of his career, returning it 34 yards

    for a touchdown. LB Bo Bower returned an intercepon 88 yards for a touchdown

    in the fourth quarter. It is the seventh longest intercepon return in school history.

    Iowa has at least one intercepon returned for a touchdown in each of the

    last eight seasons, and 12 of the last 14 seasons. The last me Iowa returned two

    intercepons for touchdown was 2013 against Western Michigan (both by B.J.

    Lowery).

    QB C.J. BEATHARD (SO., 6-2, 209)

      Career Games Played/Starts: 18/5

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard leads the Big Ten in pass eciency (157.8). His 68.2

    compleon percentage ranks second in the league, his 962 yards rank third, and

    his 151 rushing yards are more than any other conference quarterback. He also

    has accounted for nine touchdowns (six passing, three rushing).

    Beathard has set career highs in passing yardage in each of the last two weeks.

    He threw for a then career-high 258 yards against Pi in Week 3, and topped that

    with 278 yards on 18-of-21 passing against North Texas in Week 4. He completed

    his rst 15 passes against North Texas -- the best start to a game by a Big Ten QB

    since Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson in 2011 (16-of-16), including an 81-yard scoring

    strike to WR Tevaun Smith. It was the longest pass of Beathard’s career.

    Beathard earned Co-Big Ten Oensive Player of the Week honors aer helping

    lead Iowa to a 14-point triumph at Iowa State. Beathard totaled 292 yards (215

    passing and 77 rushing) against the Cyclones. Beathard was the rst quarterback

    in the Kirk Ferentz era (1999-2015) to amass more than 400 yards passing (426)

    and 100 yards rushing (103) through the rst two games of a season.

      He joined Nathan Chandler (2003) as the only quarterbacks to win each of their

    rst four career starts under Kirk Ferentz.Beathard in 3-2-1:

    • Undefeated in ve career starts. Numbers include 92-of-147 (62.6) passing for

    1,207 yards, seven touchdowns, and two intercepons, and 180 yards rushing

    with three rushing touchdowns.

    • Won his rst ve career starts. The last Iowa quarterback to win his rst six

    career starts was Ma Sherman. Sherman won his rst seven starts, including

    the nal two games of 1994 and the rst ve games in 1995.

      Senior RB Jordan Canzeri ed a school record with four rushing touchdowns in

    Week 4 against North Texas. He has named Big Ten Conference and College Sports

    Madness Oensive Player of the Week. It was the sixth me in program history aplayer rushed for four touchdowns, and the rst me since Shonn Greene scored

    four mes against Wisconsin in 2008. Canzeri has eight rushing touchdowns

    through four games, the highest total by a Hawkeye player since Tavian Banks

    rushed for 12 touchdowns through the rst four games in 1997.

      Canzeri leads Iowa in rushing yards (316) and ranks third in receiving yards (145).

    His 461 all-purpose yards rank seventh in the conference. Since 2010, the only Big

    Ten players with 800-plus scrimmage yards and eight-plus touchdowns through

    four games are Monte Ball, Jordan Hall, Melvin Gordon, and Jordan Canzeri.

      Canzeri in 3-2-1:

    • Leads the Big Ten and es for fourth naonally with eight rushing touchdowns.

      CB DESMOND KING (JR., 5-11, 190)

      Career Games Played/Starts: 30/29

      Junior CB Desmond King, regarded as one of the top

    corners in the conference, has made a habit of making big

    plays on returns this season. King returned a punt 37 yards

    (career long) to set up Iowa’s go-ahead touchdown drive

    against Iowa State on Sept. 12, and picked up a mued squib

    kick and returned it 27 yards to set up K Marshall Koehn’s

    57-yard game winning eld goal against Pi on Sept. 19. He

    totaled 180 return yards against North Texas, seng up ve

    touchdowns on six returns.

    King in 3-2-1:

    • Tied for the Big Ten lead with three intercepons. The last

    Hawkeye to lead the league in intercepons was Tyler Sash

    in 2009 (6).

    • Had intercepons on Pi’s rst two possessions. They

    were his second and third intercepons of the season, and

    the h and sixth of his career. He is the rst Hawkeye

    with two intercepons in a game since John Lowdermilk

    in the fourth period at Purdue in 2014.

    • Totaled 180 return yards against North Texas (71 punt

    and 109 kicko). He became the fourth Big Ten player in

    the last 20 seasons with 100-plus kicko return yards and

    70-plus punt return yards in a single game.

      DE DREW OTT (SR., 6-4, 272)

      Career Games Played/Started: 45/28 

      Senior DE Drew O returned to the starng lineup against

    North Texas in Week 4, recording two tackles, one sack and

    one forced fumble. O saw limited acon against Pi in Week3, one week aer leaving the Iowa State game with three

    minutes le in the rst quarter. He did not start against Pi,

    snapping his streak of 15 consecuve starts at defensive end,

    but did play.

    O recorded two sacks for a loss of 20 yards and forced

    one fumble in Iowa’s season opener. His two sacks against

    Illinois State are the rst me a Hawkeye collected mulple

    sacks in a season-opener since Mitch King had a pair in 2007.

    O led the team and ed for third in the Big Ten with 8.0

    sacks in 2014. He had two tackles, one sack (7 yards), and

    two quarterback hurries against Pi in 2014.

      O 3-2-1:• Has started 28 of the last 30 games at defensive end.

    • One of 11 players on Big Ten Players to Watch List.

    • Picked up a deected punt against Nebraska in 2014 and

      Smith in 3-2-1:

    • Ranks third in the Big Ten averaging 19.6 yards per catch (12 for 235).

    • Nine of his 12 catches have resulted in a rst town, including two touchdowns

    (51, 81).

    • Has at least one recepon in 17 straight games.

    WR MATT VANDEBERG (JR., 6-1, 185)

    Career Games Played/Starts: 27/6

      Junior WR Ma VandeBerg had more catches through the rst three games of

    the season (22) than any player in the Kirk Ferentz era (since 1999). Kevin Kasper

    had 21 recepons through the rst three games of 2000, and Kevonte Marn-

    Manley, the school’s all-me leader in recepons, had 19 catches through three

    games in 2013 and 2014.

    VandeBerg in 3-2-1:

    • Leads Iowa and ranks second in the Big Ten with 25 recepons.

    • Set career highs with nine recepons and 114 receiving yards in Iowa’s 31-17

    win at Iowa State on Sept. 12.

    • Entered the season with 22 career recepons (23 games). He has 25 through

      Senior Nate Meier leads the Hawkeyes and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with ve

      Senior LB Cole Fisher leads Iowa and ranks 10th in the Big Ten with 33 tackles.

    He has started each of Iowa’s rst four games (his rst four career starts).

    Boeger entered 2015 with one combined career start (Boege

    started as a second ght end against Wisconsin in 2014). Th

    sophomores replace a pair of NFL lineman -- 2014 Outland Troph

    winner LT Brandon Scher (Washington Redskins) and RT Andrew

    Donnal (St. Louis Rams).

    Myers joined the program as a walk-on and was put on scho

    arship prior to the 2014 season. He saw acon in four games las

    season. Boeger joined the team as a ght end but was moved t

    oensive line in 2013. He saw acon in seven games as a redshi

    freshman in 2014.

    Iowa has allowed only ve sacks and leads the Big Ten with 1rushing touchdowns through four games in 2015.

      FIND THE NFL-ER

      Since 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s rst year as UI head coach, th

    Hawkeyes have had a future NFL player start on the oensive lin

    in every season.

    In each of the last eight years, an eventual NFL rst-round dra

    pick started on the oensive line. Brandon Scher, selected by th

    Washington Redskins h overall in 2015, was Iowa’s le tack

    from 2012-14. Riley Rei, selected 23rd overall by the Detro

    Lions in 2012, started at le tackle from 2010-11. Bryan Bulaga

    selected 23rd overall by the Green Bay Packers in 2010, starteat le guard in 2007 before moving to le tackle in 2008-09.

    From 2005-06, Balmore Ravens All-Pro Marshal Yanda share

    me at tackle and guard for the Hawkeyes. Mike Elgin, a sevent

    2004. Pete McMahon, draed by Oakland in 2005, was Iowa

    right guard in 2003. Oakland’s rst round pick in 2004, Robe

    Gallery, was Iowa’s le tackle from 2001-03. Eric Steinbach (Cin

    cinna) started at guard for Iowa from 2000-02, and Bruce Nelso

    (Carolina) was a four-year starter from 1999-02. Both players wer

      THE KICK   Marshall Koehn kicked a 57-yard eld goal as me expired t

    defeat Pi, 27-24, on Sept. 19. The game-winning eld goal wa

    the second longest in school history and ed the Kinnick Stadium

    record (Arizona’s Lee Pistor in 1977).

    Aer Pi ed the game, 24-24, with 0:52 le in the fourt

    quarter, Iowa DB Desmond King picked up a squib kick at th

    3-yard line and returned it 27 yards to the Iowa 30. QB C.J. Beath

    fell incomplete, Beathard scrambled for eight yards to the Pi 39-yard line. Iowa

    then used its nal meout to stop the clock with two seconds le.

    On fourth-and-2, Pi called a meout to freeze Koehn. Koehn let a kick sail

    anyway, but it landed far short of the goal post. On the ensuing aempt, Dillon

    Kidd placed a snap from Tyler Kluver on the Pi 47-yard line, and Koehn split the

    uprights, giving Iowa its rst walk-o eld goal since 1986 (Holiday Bowl).

    THE DRIVE 

      Iowa put together a 99-yard scoring drive on its second possession of the season.

    It was the Hawkeyes’ rst 99-yard touchdown drive since 2002. Iowa passed six

    mes and rushed six mes while converng ve rst downs on the drive. QB C.J.

    Beathard was 4-of-6 passing for 63 yards. He also carried once for two yards. RB

    LeShun Daniels, Jr., carried four mes for 18 yards, and RB Jordan Canzeri took his

    rst carry of the season ve yards into the end zone. Canzeri also had a 21-yard

    recepon.

      FLIRTING WITH 100 

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard gained 111 yards but lost 34 yards rushing against Iowa

    State on Sept. 12. His net gain of 77 yards threatened his career-high of 82 set

    at the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl. The last Iowa quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a

    single game was Butch Caldwell, who ran for 109 yards on 12 aempts against

    Michigan State on Nov. 24, 1973 in Iowa City.

    FIRST TIME STARTERS

      The Hawkeyes have used 10 rst me starters. RB LeShun Daniels, Jr., LT Boone

    Myers, DT Nathan Bazata, DT Jaleel Johnson, LB Cole Fisher, LB Ben Niemann, and

    SS Miles Taylor all started the season opener. TE Jameer Outsey made his rst ca-

    reer start against Iowa State, DE Parker Hesse started for the rst me in the win

    over Pi, and WR Riley McCarron had a career-high three catches against North

    Texas in his rst career start.

    REMOVE THE REDSHIRT 

      Three true freshmen have played in 2015, and all saw their college rst acon

    in the season opener: OL James Daniels, WR Jerminic Smith, and WR Adrian Fal-

    coner. Daniels is the rst true freshman to play oensive line since Bryan Bulaga

    in 2007. Daniels joined the Iowa program last spring and parcipated in spring

    pracce.

       AMONG THE BEST IN THE BIG TEN 

      Iowa has posted a 6-6 bowl record under head coach Kirk Ferentz. Since

    the 2001 season, only Ohio State has won more bowl games (including the FBS

    GLANCE AT THE SCHEDULE 

    • The Hawkeyes open Big Ten play at Wisconsin on Saturday.

    This marks the 13th me in Kirk Ferentz’s 17 years at Iowa

    that the Hawkeyes open the conference season on the

    road.

    • For the rst me in program history Iowa plays more than

    one night game at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa defeated Pi,

    27-24, in a BTN primeme game Sept. 19. The Hawkeyes

    host Minnesota on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. (CT) on BTN.

    • Iowa is one of four Big Ten teams (Iowa, Michigan, NW,

    Rutgers) with two power ve schools on its nonconference

    schedule (Iowa State, Pi). The Hawkeyes defeated Iowa

    State, 31-17, on Sept. 12, and Pi, 27-24, on Sept. 19.

    • The Hawkeyes defeated Illinois State, 31-14, in the season

    opener. The Redbirds lost to North Dakota State in the

    • Three of Iowa’s nonconference opponents are led by

    • Iowa earned Big Ten Conference championships in 2002

    ence play since 1998 (BCS era).

    • Iowa has ranked in the top 10 in the nal Associated Press

    and CNN/USA Today coaches polls in four mes since 2002,

    • Iowa’s football record in the 2000 decade was 80-45 (.640),

    a record that ranks as the best decade in Iowa football his-

    tory, based on total wins. Iowa posted a record of 77-40-4

    (.652) during the 1980’s and the Hawkeyes were 62-53-2

    (.538) in the 1990’s.

    • Part of the Hawkeyes’ long term success is due to the sta-

    bility in the program. Iowa has had just two head coaches

    since 1979. Hayden Fry took over prior to the 1979 season

    and coached through the 1998 season, posng a record of

    143-89-6. Current coach Kirk Ferentz replaced Fry, leading

    the program for the 17th season. Ferentz also served as

    Iowa’s oensive line coach from 1981-89 under Fry.

      PAULSENS ARE A FAMILIAR FACE 

      Freshmen Landan and Levi Paulsen are the sixth set of

    twins to play football at the University of Iowa. The oensive

    linemen from Woodbury High School in Northwest Iowa join

    the company of Leo and Lloyd Jensvold (1929-30), Harold and

    Herbert Shoener (1946-47), Kent and Kevin Ellis (1977-80),

    Aaron and Evan Kooiker (1992), and Shane and Shaun Prater

    (2008).

      The Paulsens are one of three sets of brothers on Iowa’s

    2015 roster, joining DB Kevin Ward and OL Ryan Ward, and

    OL James Daniels and RB LeShun Daniels.

      Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz is featured on “Hawk Talk with

    Kirk Ferentz” each week. The 90-minute radio call-in show is

    hosted by Gary Dolphin, the play-by-play voice of the Iowa

    Hawkeyes. The show airs each Wednesday evening at 6:30

     ALL IN THE FAMILY 

      Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has two of his three sons involved

    in the Iowa program again in 2015. Brian, a former Hawkeye

    leerman and captain (2003-05), is in his fourth season as

    Iowa’s oensive line coach. Steven is an oensive lineman

    who is in his fourth season as a redshirt junior. James Ferentz

    was a three-year starter on the Hawkeye oensive line and a

    team captain before graduang in May 2013. He is currently

    playing for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. Ferentz is the only FBS

    coach ever to coach three sons at the same school.

      MORE THAN ONE 

      Eleven high schools have contributed more than one player

    to the current Iowa football roster. Dowling Catholic HS in

    West Des Moines, Iowa; and Providence Catholic HS in HomerGlen, Illinois each graduated three current Hawkeyes. The

    schools with two current Hawkeyes include DeMatha Catholic

    HS (Washington, D.C.), Harding HS (Warren, Ohio), Regina HS

    (Iowa City, Iowa), Solon HS (Solon, Iowa), Waukee HS (Wau-

    kee, Iowa), West Branch HS (West Branch, Iowa), West Lyon

    HS (Inwood, Iowa), Williamsburg HS (Williamsburg, Iowa),

    and Woodbury Central HS (Moville, Iowa).

    THE HAWKEYES, SIZE WISE 

      Redshirt freshman WR Brandon Bishop and freshman

    WR Emmanuel Ogwo are the lightest Hawkeye players at

    170 pounds. Junior DL Jaleel Johnson is the heaviest at 310pounds. A total of seven Hawkeye players are listed at 300

    pounds or more.

    The tallest player at 6-8 is redshirt freshman DE Ma Nel-

    son. The shortest player, at 5-8, is sophomore WR Jonathan

    Parker.

      The average Hawkeye player is 6-2 and weighs 232 pounds.

    That is the one inch taller and two pounds heavier than the

    average Iowa player in 2013.
