Notes on Brookside Registration for Siblings Residents of Oak Park:

Does your currently enrolled Brookside student have a younger sibling who will be starting in August? If so, it is important to note that you must complete all registration paperwork for your incoming child. Please call the school as soon as possible to make an appointment to register your child for next year (818-597-4200).

Out of District:

If you currently have a child attending Brookside on an inter-district transfer, please note that younger siblings are not automatically accepted or enrolled. Please contact Linda Gam (818-735-3253) at the OPUSD district office right away to discuss out-of-district registration of a younger sibling.

Pennies for the Playground Please help us to maintain a fun, safe, and engaging playground by supporting our annual “Pennies for the Playground” fundraiser sponsored by our Student Council. We will have collection jars in each classroom until Friday, 2/27. We love coins, but will of course also accept bills, or even checks!

Save the Date for BIG SUNDAY! OPUSD's Community Outreach Committee is excited to announce Big Sunday's Day of Giving Event is scheduled on Sunday, May 3, 2015.  Join your friends, family and community members as we clean-up our schools, our trails and our community!  More information coming in the near future! 

Library News March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the beginning of Read Across America Week. We will celebrate in the library with a photo booth filled with Dr. Seuss props, toys, and books. During your student’s weekly library visit, have them wear anything Dr. Seuss and teachers and volunteers will be taking photos in our little photo booth. “Oh, The Places you’ll Go” …..and it all begins in the Brookside Library! Cheers to Dr. Seuss!!! !Health Warrior Week is Coming! MARCH 2 - 6TH is Health Warrior week. Healthy eating will be rewarded with a raffle ticket and toe token for each day that students give up sugar and eat fruits and vegetables instead. Forms will be sent home on or before Friday, February 27th or click here for a copy of the form. Forms will ONLY be collected in front of the school before or after school on Wednesday, March 11th. Raffle tickets and toe tokens will only be give at those times. Forms may NOT be turned into the office or your child's teacher. Sorry no late forms will be accepted!

Send a Jog-A-Thon "SHOUT OUT" to Your Child! Send a message of encouragement to your child and/or your child's class/teacher that will be read over the microphone while their class is running during the March 13th Jog-A-Thon! Each Shout Out is just $5. Please click here for a copy of the form (or watch for it in your child’s homework folder), fill it out, and send it with your payment to your child's teacher. The deadline is March 11th!

Volunteers Needed for Brookside’s Annual Jog-A-Thon The Jog-A-Thon is Friday, March 13th from 8:20 am- 11:40 am. Volunteers are needed for each class, in addition to help with set-up, handing out water, and clean-up. This is a great event that is fun and healthy for students! The PTA Is Looking for 2015-16 Executive Board Members.... Do you have great ideas you would like to see implemented at Brookside next year? Are you looking for ways to expand your leadership skills? Would you like to meet more friends and be more involved at Brookside? If so, the Brookside PTA would love to talk to

you about being on the PTA Executive Board for the 2015-16 school year.  We are particularly looking for volunteers to fill spots on our finance team (accounting background necessary), VP of e-communications (strong computer/graphics skills necessary), VP of Ways & Means, VP of Programs, and more! Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition We are proud to report that Brookside has five teams of students that will be competing (along with two teams from OHES, one team from ROES, and three teams from MCMS) in the upcoming Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition. As many of you know, The Odyssey of the Mind is a creative thinking program that teaches students to learn problem-solving methods while having fun in the process.

The competition takes place Saturday, February 28th at San Marino High School (2701 Huntington Drive, San Marino, CA 91108). The teams would love to have your support!
