OCT Respect | Responsibility | Sincerity | Perseverance 2018 Yours sincerely, Mae Quah Note Dear Parents, October is a month when primary school children throughout Singapore look forward to celebrating the much awaited Children’s Day. This year, it falls on 5 October 2018. As we reflect on our mission to mould the future of our nation, let us celebrate this day and reaffirm our belief in them as they shape the future of our country. 1 For many years, it was celebrated on 1 October and our Primary 6 students were not able to enjoy the festivities as much as the rest of the students as they had to sit for the national examination. Since 2012, when the Ministry of Education decided to move Children's Day to the first Friday of October, which is after their national examination, it has become a double celebration for them. The school will be celebrating Children’s Day on 4 October 2018, with many fun-filled and enriching activities. The Primary 5 and 6 students will be having Class Party, Primary 3 and 4 will be having Learning Festival while the Primary 1 and 2 will be engaged in their Lower Primary Sports. Like in previous years, our parent volunteers have come together to arrange a carnival for our students. We truly appreciate the time and effort our Parent Support Group (PSG) has put in to make the day the most enjoyable and unforgettable one for all our students. The awesome and positive experiences that the PSG creates for our children on Children’s Day will be cherished and deeply etched in their minds. A big THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers for your time and effort. Whilst the Primary 6 students have shown their perseverance, resilience and hard work preparing for and sitting through the Primary School Leaving Examination, our Primary 2 to Primary 5 students will be having their final year examination soon. Let’s show our children that we belief in them and encourage them to dream big and pursue their dreams.

Primary 1 Learning Journey

Our enthusiastic cohort of Primary 1 students went for theirsecond learning journey when they came back from theirSeptember break. Equipped with their learning journeybooklets, they had an enriching experience observing andlearning about various animals in their environment whilediligently taking down important notes.

They also learnt how to be considerate while visiting these animals intheir natural habitat. Some brave students even touched the starfishand the horseshoe crab at the Touch Pool located in the Mary Riverenclosure. All the students had the opportunity to look at animals suchas the Red Panda and the Squirrel Monkeys up close. Even towards theend of the learning journey, they were still full of energy.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderfuland supportive parent volunteers who came along with us duringthe journey. We hope you had a fantastic timewith us too!
