Many of us were not able to participate in that gathering. But now we are invited to gather in a similar way. We have the video of the Bishop’s address to the January gathering. As he did in January, the Rev. Ed Hansen will be presenting a historical review of our Conference's journey of biblical obedience for the past several decades. And the Rev. Frank Schaefer is now appointed in our district, and will be present with us. The majority of the time will be spent in intentional Holy Conferencing in small groups, and as a larger group, to prayerfully reflect on Biblical Obedience in the California-Pacific Annual Conference. Our District Superintendent, the Rev. Dr. Cedrick Bridgeforth, will lead us in this time of conferencing. Coffee in the Fellowship Hall will follow. Each of us prepares a presentation for one Sunday's readings and we spend an hour or so discussing what that week's passages mean and how we might approach the preaching task. We don't write one another's sermons, but the discussion brings to light different perspectives and new insights. Collaboration is a good thing. I recently met with several church members to talk about our observance of the Season of Creation in September. I had broad themes in mind and a few ideas about special things we could do, but when several of us came together we generated new ideas that none of us had thought of before meeting together. We are planning special worship services, evening programs and outdoor events. I am thankful for the creativity of members of the congregation. When District Superintendent Catie Coots first spoke to me about coming to Los Osos, she said that this church valued a collaborative style of leadership. Standing on the Promises

All laity and clergy of the North District are invited to Holy

Conferencing on being Biblically Obedient to the call of Jesus Christ.

Last January, Bishop Carcaño invited everyone in the Cal-Pac annual conference to a gathering in Pasadena, during which she shared the journey that led her to invite Frank Schaefer to the California-Pacific Annual Conference. At that January meeting, our Bishop wanted to provide a safe space for faith-filled sharing of our thoughts, prayers, concerns and ideas on what we are called to do if the Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ are in conflict.

Our District Superintendent, the Rev. Dr. Cedrick Bridgeforth, will lead us in this time of conferencing. Coffee in the Fellowship Hall will follow.

This gathering is solely for Cal-Pac United Methodists, both clergy and laity.

Online Opportunities

UMC Market Donates When You Shop Online What if you could buy the things you need online and give to your church at the same time? At no cost to you or your church? This is the UMCmarket, a shopping portal that pays a commission of 1-9 percent to Trinity UMC with zero effort on our part and no increased costs to you. The United Methodist Church, in partnership with some of the largest online retailers, have built a shopping tool that provides a cash benefit for your church when you purchase through the UMCmarket -- items you'd probably be buying anyway. The retailer does not markup the price any — you still pay what you’d pay as you did before. How does it work? Simply create an account at UMCMarket.org and designate the church of your choosing. Contact MaryAnn in the TUMC office, 528-1649, if you have any questions or need assistance.
