Also

the Point of Work Risk Assessments (PoWRA) will record

this detail.

The Hazard Directory and buried services diagrams are a

good source of information and will be read thoroughly to all staff during the briefing.

All staff will be responsible for their safety and the safety of others.

Hazard Controls Specified

Existing Fencing Correct PPE whilst handling and during take down.

Above ground, below ground and overhead cable routes

Visually check and mark any above ground cables using marker paint, where appropriate. Brief all staff on identified cable routes exposed. Where poss ble avoid cable routes and protect cable routes with plywood sheets/mats whilst crossing machinery over.

Railway Set up a Safe System of Work. Adjacent Housing Issue notifications of the works 2 weeks prior to

commencement. . Minimize works done at night. Keep noise to a minimum at all times.

Leptospirosis (Weils Disease)

Gloves must be worn at all times. Any cuts must be immediately washed and covered. Hands must be washed before meal times.

Third Party Interfaces

All railway gates to be kept closed when not in use. Proper site signage to be used. Letter drops to local residents as required.

Slips, trips and falls

Maintain good housekeeping practices – Keep working areas tidy as activities progress. Use designated access routes. Inspect site thoroughly for any trip hazards and identify to the work group if any are found. Walk only – with care. Wear Correct PPE and ensure that boots have good grip. Remove trip hazards if possible. Inspect for any hidden holes throughout site and read the hazard directory thoroughly. Wear safety harness and be attached to a rope when working on or near the cutting slopes.

Working adjacent to water course

Lifelines and harnesses to be worn in the proximity of water course.

Plant/Power Tools

Correct PPE, training and maintenance of equipment.

B4 Protection Arrangements

All works will be carried out within a Separated Safe System of Work, either over three metres from the line or if necessary a Site Warden will be utilised at two metres from the line as detailed in the SSOWP.

B5 On-track Plant and Machinery Movements

Staff will be made aware of on track plant and machinery movements during the COSS briefing

All accidents and incidents must also be reported to the QTS Contract Manager and Network Rail Representative. All accidents are to be investigated and reported in accordance with Company Procedure SP40 and Railway Group Standard GE/RT8047.Where required the worksite will be suspended and the area will be preserved until an investigation has been completed. B8 Welfare

A welfare cabin with washing, toilet and eating facilities will be stationed at the German Lane Access.

B9 Interfaces

NWR Project Team / Local Councils

QTS Group Site Manager /Project Manager will interface directly with NWR scheme project manager – weekly progress meetings set as the minimum contact level throughout the project. Communication & liaison of relevant information, arising from project meetings, to the relevant local councils will also be the responsibility of the QTS Project Manager.
