Support and education: The foundation serves as an advocate for people with lupus, their families and health professionals. Government officials and industry leaders are educated about the need to expand public and private investment in research, education and support services. Patients receive referrals to doctors who treat lupus and are provided with the tools and resources needed for dealing with the effects of lupus on health, social, financial and family issues. Monthly support meetings are held throughout the state and Living with Lupus educational symposiums are given by medical experts in five cities throughout Indiana.
The Indianapolis Walk to End Lupus Now in September raised $117,993.
