IBSEN FESTIVAL-By Mrs. ILA Arun IBSEN INDEED COMES ALIVE IN INDIA

The obsession for Ibsen began in 2010 in London. DADA (Design and Dramatic Arts) from New Delhi called to urge Ila Arun, playwright & the Artistic Director of ‘SURNAI’ Theatre group to adapt & stage two shows of Ibsen’s “Lady from the Sea” in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy. She adapted it as “Mareechika” using a traditional folk form and the play premiered at Ibsen Festival Delhi. “Mareechika” created a lasting impression and In May 2014 Norwegian Embassy commissioned Ila Arun for the maiden “Ibsen festival” in Mumbai interestingly titled “When we dead awaken, Ibsen comes Alive in Mumbai”. Opening the maiden festival with the performances by the highly acclaimed Norwegian Theatre & Jazz artistes like Kare Conradi, Ruth Wilhelmine Meyer, and Helge Lien created an overwhelming response. Mumbai people hadn’t seen innovative sound & visual performances like that. “Ibsen Festival Mumbai 2015 season 2” was more India focused due to economic reasons, but it equally heightened awareness for Ibsen. Robust publicity for the past two seasons of “Ibsen festival” has reached an estimated 6 million people. Additionally the cascading effect of word-of-mouth publicity has created a greater momentum for “Ibsen Festival”. The newly founded “SURNAI Theatre And Folk-Arts Foundation” (previously “SURNAI THEATRE”) has plans to open the “Ibsen Festival Mumbai 2016-Season 3”with a fusion of Norwegian, Indian jazz & traditional music; a collaboration of such artistes like Ila Arun, Kare Conradi, Dhruv Ghanekar, Ruth Meyer, Helge Lien & folk balladeers from Rajasthan & Maharashtra shall open at a separate venue. The main festival for the first time shall continue at the iconic Prithvi Theatre from 6 to 9 October 2016 with plays, discussions, seminar & a platform performance. SURNAI’s has been travelling all over India with “Peer Ghani”. Based on Ibsen’s long dramatic poem “Peer Gynt” & set in Kashmir has performed in Gurgaon and Jammu this month to an overwhelming response. SURNAI Foundation has got the go-ahead to perform soon in Srinagar. Henrik Ibsen shall truly be resurrected in India then. - By Mrs ILA Arun.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) have now replaced the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) to transform the world around us. SDG 2 - End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture and the SDG – 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages. Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) remains a major killer in children under 5. They are at 5 -20 times higher risk of death against a normal child. In India at any given point of time, there are 5 Million server-undernourished children. In India, these children are treated at Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) which 900 in number are only able to reach 2 % of the children. However, there are evidences, which shows that most of these children, without complications can be treated at the community level and need not go to these centres. In Africa hundred thousands of the such children are being treated in community level – CMAM (Community based management of Malnutrition) which not only increases the reach but also is cost effective thus more number of children can be treated in the same available resources. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) – Government of India has provided its approval to UNICEF India to conduct pilot project for community based management of SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) in 13 states where UNICEF has field presence. The states are Assam, Andhra Pradesh (Now Andhra and Telangana), Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Launch of ‘Our Most Beautiful Paint Ever’ – My Home

News from our Members

Over 300 dealers and internal team members were taken to Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad to witness Jotun India’s largest product launch of the year – My Home. The audience was left spell-bound by the flying drones that gave My Home cans a grand entrance, followed by fanfare and unveiling of larger than life size cans on either sides of the stage. Their spirits reached a peak while going through the special gallery set up that used inspiration from the latest My Home Colour Card. The event concluded with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm amongst all internal and external stakeholders, where the Managing Director Mr. Richard Chapman outlined Jotun's robust retail strategy for the coming years. Senior customers and employees rated the event as the best they have experienced and we were able to capitalize on the momentum by procuring orders of over 46,000 liters for the new products. My Home is unique in the market as it offers a matt which not only has the best appearance in the market but can also be cleaned. We use three points to get our message over: 1. My Home is our most beautiful paint ever 2. What you see (on the colour card) is what you get on the walls (colour accuracy). 3. We have selected colours that look beautiful on your walls. – By Jotun INDIA
