THE RULES
Welcome to Gourmets for God 2015! This fundraiser brings together members of our church community to meet, eat and raise money. We have gathered 44 events from hosts who are putting on every imaginable form of culinary entertainment. Now you have the opportunity to bid on seats to these events. All the meals take place between April and December, 2015 with two special bonus events in February, 2016. During the five weeks of our silent auction (ending April 19th at 1:30 pm) you will be able to bid on as many meals as you like. The bidding works like this: Let’s say a host offers a chicken barbeque for ten people with a starting bid of $25, the eleventh person must place a higher bid. This bumps the last lowest bidder off the guest list. Keep checking the bidding sheet—if you were outbid and you want to ensure your seat at the barbeque, you must counter with a higher bid. In the end, the highest ten bidders buy tickets to the meal then show up at the appointed time and place for a great time and great food. In the case of a tie, the earlier bidder wins. Here’s the Fine Print: 1. Your bid is your contract. Please do not bid if you cannot attend. 2. Please first sign up on the master bid sheet with your name, phone number and email address so we may easily contact you to tell you if you have won! Please write legibly. 3. Each bidder must bid on a separate line. If you want to attend as a couple or a family, please use a separate line for each person and bracket your names so we know to keep you together. Some hosts have agreed to take one additional person to avoid splitting up a couple. 4. Please do not raise a bid by less than $1. 5. If you find you have been outbid and you would like to keep bidding, please put your name on a new line with your new, higher bid. Do not erase or change your original bid (or bids). 6. ALL WINNING TICKETS MUST BE PAID FOR BY THE END OF MAY. We accept cash, check, and credit cards. Your ticket price is tax deductible. 7. If you win an auction but then find you are unable to attend, we are asking you to purchase your ticket and resell it or give it away. Remember, this is a church fundraiser! That’s it. Have fun! Eat well! Bid early and bid often!
THANK YOU!

22. NAME YOUR “PASSENGERS” AND RELEASE THEM WITH LOVE
Saturday, July 18, 3:00 – 6:00 pm Hosted by Donna Roberts, Studio City, CA
Have you ever said, “Where do these buried error beliefs come from? What triggers them and why do I continue to listen to them? How do I banish them?” Meet your (Coach to Everywhere) “Passengers.” Astrology is a vibrant and effective metaphysical science/art for examining this life’s “contract.” Your birth map is this mortal coil’s genesis snapshot and describes an utterly unique set of gifts (and error beliefs) as bullet points on your soul’s agenda for illumination, expression and healing in this lifetime. This experience will be an intimate, 3-‐hour “table talk” with only 10 people. Using provided natal charts (beautifully prepared, of course), you will be given guided experiences and printed resources designed to bring your “passengers/error beliefs” into focus and suggestions on methods to release them with love and gratitude. Fixed Pre-‐requisites: 1. Month, day and year of your birth; 2. Time of your birth (preferably from your birth certificate), and 3. Place of your birth (town, state, country). I need these 3 pieces of data no later than June 18th (one month before). This seminar, good for novice and advanced students, is led by Donna Roberts, a professional astrologer with over 40 years’ experience. The gourmet portion of the afternoon will be a healthy, easy-‐to-‐eat buffet with a few indulgences to get your focus mojo working. Our home has two short sets of stairs coming up from the street and parking is available on Colfax. 10 guests. Bidding starts at $85.

As the warm evening breeze ruffles the palms overhead, follow the woodland path through our urban farm and garden. Listen for the sound of mariachi music that leads you to frozen margaritas, Corona beer, soft drinks, chips and guacamole in the poolside Sundance Café Cantina. Soon, the fragrance of carne asada and chicken on the barbecue with cheese enchiladas, rice, beans and tortillas coming out of the oven lures you to the cabana where your compadres await. Lubricated by champagne and wine, the scintillating conversation bubbles over the scrumptious Mexican repast. As evening falls, candle lit lanterns and soft lights guide you back along the woodland path, this time stopping to relax in casual garden settings under ancient trees. As the night ends, you are serenaded by the happy clucking of our chickens as they head up to their nesting boxes for the night – their contentment surpassed only by your own. 1 cat, no stairs, outdoor event, poolside. 18 guests. 26. P IZZA AND ’PACHO BY THE POOL Friday, July 31, 4:00 pm (swimming, hanging, building pizzas) 6:00 pm ( eat ing) Hosted by Alegre Ramos and Sean Cantalupo, Encino, CA
If you love pizza, then this is the dinner for you. I make the dough from scratch, and let’s just say that you’ve NEVER had pizza dough like this. It’s been called perfect by professional chefs. It has a little crunch on the outside, a deep chew on the inside, and the taste is …well…heavenly. Once we have the dough all stretched out, everyone gets to have fun dressing the pizzas with a special blend of 5-‐cheeses and various other toppings. While we wait for the pizzas to cook we’ll start our meal out with a wonderful salad with lots of crunch and an array of flavors! We will then serve the pizza with homemade gazpacho (a cold tomato soup native to Spain.) If you hate gazpacho, then you will probably love this recipe because that’s why I invented it! After living in Spain I love the IDEA of gazpacho, but had never had a recipe I actually enjoyed. I’ve sold this recipe as a seasoning mix in Williams-‐Sonoma for the last few years and it’s always a hit. For dessert, if it’s warm we’ll have my Berry Delicious Ice Cream Sandwiches; if not, I’ll make something chocolaty. If weather allows we can go swimming before or after the meal, although after that meal we may not want to!!! An assortment of beverages will be served including beer and red wine. We hope you can join us! Parking is on the street behind us, so it is a short walk to our house. We have a 4-‐1/2 year old and a very furry dog. Children are welcome, but our house is not “child-‐proof.” 8 guests. Bidding starts at $25.

38. A NIGHT IN ABRUZZO Friday, October 16, 7:00 pm Hosted by David Schwarzman & Lori Harmon, Valley Glen, CA
Abruzzo is a hilly region of eastern, central Italy facing the Adriatic. It is known for its hardy lamb platters, tangy cheeses and peppery fish dishes. Tonight we’ll pay tribute to all three! We’ll start with a signature cocktail, the Americano, made with Campari, sweet vermouth, club soda and a slice of orange or if you prefer, a refreshing Trebbiano d’Abruzzo white wine. These will accompany our antipasti course. This will include a shellfish salad dressed in olive oil, lemon juice and fresh herbs, chunks of grilled monkfish with rosemary, garlic, anchovy, lemon and red pepper, crostini with burrata and a radicchio marmalade, rolls of prosciutto filled with shaved pecorino cheese and arugula, and finally slices of fresh homemade focaccia baked with green olives, cherry tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Our main course will be a ragout of slow-‐roasted tomatoes, red wine and lamb shanks over homemade fresh pappardelle with grated pecorino cheese and a gremolata of lemon zest, garlic and mint. We’ll pair this with a hearty Montepulciano d’Abruzzo red wine. Dessert will consist of Parozzo, a chocolate almond cake accompanied by coffee and Italian after-‐dinner drinks. 3 dogs, 2 cats, no stairs. 6 guests. Bidding starts at $40.
