    Walking for the Cause

Across Florida and Ohio, our associates have been busy making strides for breast cancer, remembering those suffering from Alzheimer’s, and raising awareness of heart disease at various walks and runs across the nation. Breast cancer awareness month took place in October. November marks Alzheimer’s awareness month. Both causes affect our friends, families and our residents. Many of our associates took part in events in their communities with the support of the Greystone Health Network. In Ohio, the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center team called the Guardians of Memory walked to support Alzheimer’s Awareness in honor of their residents affected by the disease. Many of our Florida locations joined in the effort, walking in Port Charlotte and Gainesville Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walks. In Gainesville, the network received an award for their support and sponsorship including our Riverwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Greystone Home Health and Park Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center teams. Park Meadows represented with the largest walking team at the event. In Port Charlotte, Village Place Health and Rehabilitation Center

represented the network in support and awareness of the Alzheimer’s cause. Participating for the second year, center’s as far as The Club Health and Rehabilitation Center at The Villages and The Lodge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ocala, FL joined in to double the company’s participants from 2014. Congratulations to Tori Couch, who placed third in her division during the 5K race. Supporting our own health as well as the awareness, support and health of others affected by these diseases continues into November as Greystone Health Network centers throughout Florida and Ohio participate in upcoming Alzheimer’s walks and American Heart Association Heart Walk’s.

    Resident of the Month

    Kurt Kuske

Kurt was a E5 Corporal in the US

Army for four years. Joining the

    Army gave Kurt discipline, and

afforded him the ability to travel.

Kurt hails from Hammond, IN, but

has lived in Florida for more than

20 years. The Sunshine State drew

him in with its beautiful weather

    and year-round casual attire.

Advice that Kurt would give a

    younger person, “Take time to

    value life.”

    At North Beach Health and

    Rehabilitation Center, the

    associates and residents are

    “beautiful,” according to Kurt. He

    loves spending time outdoors

    socializing with friend. He

    appreciates the patios, and

    community outings.

    He was an entrepreneur who

enjoyed being his own boss. Kurt

also took care of horses and

    learned much about them.

    Congratulations, Kurt, resident of

    the month.

    Associate of the Month

    Rafael Marie Adams

    Marie’s bright smile has been

    familiar to many around North

    Beach Health and Rehabilitation

Center since 2003. She loves to be

    around people. Marie enjoys

    seeing how the associates truly

care for the residents and their

    families.

    As a housekeeping technician,

    Marie enjoys providing a clean

    environment for residents and

    associates. She remembers, as a

young girl having a desire to keep

everything clean. This line of work

was a natural fit for Marie.

    She has three children: Esther,

    Ruth and Patterson; and six

    grandchildren. In 1998, she

moved to Florida from her native

Haiti to be close to the love of her

    life. The couple later married.

Marie has a strong faith in God,

    and belief in family.

    Congratulations, Marie, associate

    of the month!
