History, Chairs and Membership

Since 2005, served as an informal advisory group to State Board of Education and Lt. Gov./Gov. Perdue

Formally established in 2010 by Governor Perdue

Chaired by: Lt. Governor Walter Dalton Senator Richard Stevens Representative Joe Tolson

Membership: up to 30 individuals representing K-12, Community Colleges, University, businesses and community organizations

Make recommendations to the Governor regarding:1. Unified data system to improve educational,

maximize the potential of eLearning 4. Forming state, national and global collaborations to

enhance eLearning opportunities for NC citizens.

NC State School Technology Plan

To ensure equity of access for all of NC’s P-12 students, the proposed 2011-13 plan focuses on:1. A statewide shared services “cloud” model2. Universal access to personalized teaching

and learning devices3. Statewide access to digital teaching and

learning resources, including digital textbooks

4. A statewide model of technology-enabled professional development

5. 21st century leadership for all schools and districts
