E-Safety Guide The e-safety Commissioner has a site that provides a guide for parents regarding online safety for their children. It has information about cyberbullying, time online, accessing inappropriate material and online gaming. Please access this via the link https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/online-safety-guide Term 3 Invoices Term 3 invoices were emailed last week. We would appreciate payments being finalised by Friday 30 August. If you also have outstanding payments from Term 1 or Term 2, these were included on your invoice and should also be finalised by this date. Should you have any difficulties in making these payments, please contact me to make arrangements for a payment plan. Group Photographs This week our whole school photograph and group photographs were taken. Information about how to purchase these online will be available soon. Thank you to Ms Tilney for coordinating the photographs. Kindergarten 2020 Information Morning The second and final of our 2020 Kindergarten Information Mornings will be held on Thursday 22 August. The program for this is identical to the information morning held in Term 2 so there is no need to attend again for those who did so then. Next month, we will be posting letters detailing our Kindergarten Transition Program, which is to be held over three dates in November. It is important that all enrolments are received this term so that children can participate in our transition program. If you are aware of any neighbours or friends who have not yet completed their enrolment, we would very much appreciate you passing this message on to them. Positive Behaviour for Learning During this fortnight all classes are revising expectations for using the school bathrooms and how our three school values relate to this setting. The Week 3 recipients for our PBL draw were Roman G and Eloise O. Striver Badges Congratulations to the following students who received a Striver badge at our last assembly: Blue badge – Mandana A, Leo E, Ben G, Riley L, Finlay L, Alison L, Sarina S, Xavier V Red badge – Allegra L Green badge – Brooke C, Kai U Yellow badge – Nicholas H

On Wednesday 28 August, the SRC will be holding a Pyjama Day to raise money for Stewart House. Students are encouraged to come to school in their PJ’s for the day at the cost of a gold coin. Stewart House provides services to children from the public education system in NSW and the ACT who would benefit from a positive intervention to build their self-esteem and personal development.

________________________________________________________________________________________ Peer Support

We are commencing our Peer Support lessons this week. The whole school participates in Peer Support for 30 minutes each week. Two Peer leaders facilitate a small group of 8-9 younger students, who work through a number of structured activities. Each teacher will supervise 3 groups in their classroom.

We are working on a module called ‘Living Positively’ helping us explore the concept of optimism. The module will run for 8 sessions.

In the first session this week, students will get to know everyone in their group, form an agreement about how they will work well together and interact cooperatively with others. They will also begin to think about what it means to be optimistic.

We encourage you to talk to your children about Peer Support every week, as it will help to reinforce concepts learned in each session.

Concert Program Cover Competition This term we are having our annual school concert. We will be holding a competition for students to enter their artworks as the front cover of the concert programs. The themes this year are as follows: K-2: Fairy tales 3-6: Fractured Fairy tales Students who are entering this competition will have to complete and submit their artwork by Week 5. There will be boxes in the office where students can place these entries. Students will need to have a space on their entry for the title of the concert, date and time. They will not need to have the accurate dates and times just yet. Please see Ms Patel if you have any questions about what needs to be included. Thank you and we look forward to seeing your entries! On Monday afternoon we interviewed three candidates (out of 15 applications) for the paid casual position as Uniform Shop Manager. The panel of interviewers consisted of Ali Kerr, Shelley Morris and Bonita Chan. There were two really strong candidates and we successfully appointed Kate Ward to the position. She is external to our school and has direct uniform shop experience in another local school so we all agreed that she was a perfect fit. You can look forward to seeing a new face in the Uniform Shop soon! Last weekend we also shot the uniform products for the website. Big thanks to Steve and Shelley Morris for their help in getting the items properly photographed. Lisa Manton, the new manager Kate and I will be in discussions about how best to get it “online”. Once up and running, you will be able to order directly from the website and the orders will be picked weekly, with deliveries sent to your Child’s nominated class. The Clothing Pool (for preloved items and also to try on sizes) will only open TWICE a month, BEFORE and AFTER school (on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month - starting in September) and we will continue to do this on a FRIDAY. This will relieve the pressure on volunteers to turn up every week to open the store, but we will still require volunteer help for those open hours please. The new price changes have been implemented and effective since last Friday. NOTE: the Online Uniform shop is NOT LIVE as yet, so please continue with the NEW ORDER FORM and emailing us your Proof of Purchase. FYI - The Kindy Transition Days are: Tuesday 12, Monday 18 and Thursday 28 November 2019. We will be OPEN on each of these Transition Days for new Kindy Kids to purchase uniforms however if you can avoid the queue and get in early! Please email us a request for a Starter Pack Pre-Order form for your Kindy child starting in 2020. Attention: The Clothing Pool/Uniform Shop will NOT be open this FRIDAY 16 August due to training and handover to the new Uniform Shop Manager, but plan to be open NEXT FRIDAY 23 August, morning and afternoon. Many thanks for your understanding. Please feel free to email us with any questions. Cheers from The NPS Uniform Shop Team Friday morning OPEN HOUR is now 8.30 a.m. - 9.30 a.m. Email: [email protected] Order Form link: http://www.npspandc.com/uniform-shop/

Pie & Donut Drive Thank you to everyone who ordered pies, donuts and other treats at our recent Pie & Donut Drive. Even though there were a few issues from Loftus Pies and their delivery on numerous items we completed the deliveries and raised a healthy $1,500.00 for our school. I cannot thank Uldouz V and Emily Mc enough for the huge amount of time and dedication they have put in.

Father’s Day Breakfast – Friday 30 August Forms have been distributed for Father’s Day breakfast. If you would like to order breakfast please ensure you fill out the form and return it with payment to the Office by Friday 23 August. Please note that you can order a breakfast for your child, if their Dad or special person cannot make it.

Over 200 tube stock natives were planted in the raised bed retaining walls in the lower playground with help from Hornsby Council who donated plants for the occasion. Local member Alister Henskens popped past to plant a tree with the children and look at the progress on our new playground which has undergone extensive changes in the last few months. On a serious note, several of the grasses at the entry to Fraser Rd have been getting pulled out of the ground.

Several parents have helped to replant them but it is disappointing to see this senseless vandalism to work that has taken hours of volunteer effort to achieve. Please talk to your children about the importance of looking after our new plantings. Melissa Logan P&C President [email protected]
