MarilynMonroe

BiographyNorma Jean Baker was born January 6, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. She endured a fatherless childhood of sexual abuse and poverty and was put in a string of orphanages and foster homes after mother Gladys Baker (nee Monroe), who suffered mental illness, was institutionalized. At 16 she married 21 year old, Jim Dougherty. She began her carrier by modeling bathing suits and, after bleaching her hair blonde, posed for pin-ups and glamour photos.

She taught everyone to not care what other people think and that its okay to have curves. Young girls wanted to be like her wearing bright red lip stick, bleach blond hair, and very girly dresses.

Fashion*

Marilyn's glamour and fashion was not built upon the crazy whims and style crazes of her day. She stuck

with simplicity and beauty. Keep in mind that a truly glamorous woman

needs no flashy overstatements when planning her wardrobe. She

was very important to fashion around the 1940s but still till this

day she has many idolizers.

PoliticsJohn F. Kennedy was the president during the time Marilyn was famous. She had an affair with JFK, and another affair with his brother, Bobby. "During the 1960 presidential campaign, Marilyn allegedly continued her affair with JFK. At Kennedy's July 1960 Romanoff's bash, Marilyn was seen with the president-to-be. She was also seen coming and going - frequently – from Kennedy's penthouse suite at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. There are also several reports that MM spent the weekend of March 24, 1962, at Bing Crosby's Palm Springs home with JFK. And, in her last years, Marilyn was a frequent visitor to Peter Lawford's Santa Monica beach house, which, in the early 1960s, served as the Los Angeles base for the Kennedy family."
