The Nokia Lumia 1020 is an iconic smartphone with a revolutionary camera that captures more of the details that matter to you. The 41 MP camera sensor with PureView technology captures more of your moments with every click. A Backside Illuminated Sensor (BSI), ZEISS lenses, Optical Image Stabilization, and the Xenon flash give you stunning pictures, even at night.

Take a picture with Nokia Pro Camera, and you can zoom into the image to show fine details, or reframe the image to tell a different story, while still giving you an image that is a manageable size for easy sharing. Nokia Pro Camera also unlocks your creativity, with the option to use manual controls like those that professional photographers use to create unforgettable images.

With the 41 MP camera sensor you can record full HD-quality video, even when zoomed up to 4x. Thanks to Nokia Rich Stereo Recording, your audio is just as stunning as your video, even in loud environments like concerts. The optional Nokia Camera Grip helps you take pictures and videos with one hand, just like you do with a traditional camera.

TIP

XENON FLASHPowerful Xenon flash is brighter and faster than an LED flash. This makes it better at lighting up subjects at night, adding fill lighting to portraits shot outdoors, and for freezing fast action. The Nokia Lumia 1020 also has a dedicated LED light for video recording and focus assist.

NOKIA PRO CAMERA CONTROLS

FLASH CONTROLFlash settings include Auto, On, and Off for the Xenon flash. Set the flash to

On to prevent blurry images or illuminate details in backlit subjects during

the day. There is also a Focus Assist light on/off setting, which activates an

LED light that helps the autofocus function better in low-light conditions.

WHITE BALANCEWhite balance changes how the camera sees and records different sources of

light in a scene. You can choose settings like Cloudy, Sunshine, Fluorescent,

and Incandescent. Experiment with white balance to change the mood of

your photos. When taking a picture of a sunset, for example, set the white

balance to emphasize a warmer light instead of allowing the camera to make

the image appear brighter.

FOCUSManual focus gives you full control of the camera focus distance, so you can

set your focus from 6” to Infinity. You can use the manual focus to more

quickly and accurately focus on your subject, or to create a depth-of-field

effect where the background is blurred to call attention to the foreground

object that is in sharp focus.

Depth of field effect created using manual focus.

ISOISO measures the camera’s sensitively to light, equivalent to the different

film speeds used in film cameras. The higher the ISO number, the better the

camera performs in low-light. The trade off is that increasing the ISO also in-

creases the graininess in the image. In dark settings, increase the ISO so you

can use a slower shutter speed and remove blur if the scene has movement.

In bright light, however, you may want to lower the ISO if the picture seems

washed out, of if you want to get a cleaner image with less grain.

SHUTTER SPEEDThe shutter speed defines how long the shutter opens to expose the sensor

to light. Slow shutter speeds (up to 4 seconds) require objects to stay still

for longer periods of time so the image appears sharp. Fast shutter speeds

(up to 1/8000 of a second) work well in daylight. In well-lit scenes, use a fast

shutter speed to capture motion without blur. Set a slower shutter speed at

night for artistic effects like capturing the light trails of cars.

EXPOSURE COMPENSATIONExposure compensation, or value, refers to the amount of light recorded

on the sensor. Change the settings to make images brighter or darker. If

the subject is in a shadow, increase the exposure value to make the picture

bright. To make the sky a dark blue, decrease the exposure value. Experiment

with the exposure compensation to create artistic effects, such as washed-

out photos.
