BILFINGER WATER TECHNOLOGIES NOGGERATH® Rotary Drum Screens MTSM & MG –––––– TASK The separation of very fine solid particles from water and wastewater using state-of-the-art micro screening technology. SOLUTION Bilfinger Water Technologies offers you a versatile micro screening drum system which has proven itself as both effective and economic in a very wide range of applications. The heart of the NOGGERATH ® Rotary Drum Screens MTSM & MG is a rotary drum consisting of sieve baskets which are connected with each other. Each sieve basket is individually covered with polyester mesh. The system can be installed either in a concrete chamber or in steel or plastic casing. With our Micro-Giant Plus design we are paying regard to the growing demand for water and wastewater treatment and also the increasing application of membrane technology. The micro screening drum system offers an effective and very economical alternative to conventional sieving and screening systems in municipal wastewater engineering applications. BENEFITS High flow rate due to optimal screen basket design Low headloss Integrated emergency overflow Blades installed in the screen baskets prevent screenings from falling back into the raw water Direct drive by means of a gear wheel

OPTIONS The micro screening drum system has become established in a wide range of water and wastewater screening applications, as it offers the possibility to utilise very different kinds of mesh made from diverse materials. With the additional installation of an integrated spiral or screw press, the rotary drum screen is able to deal with even larger volumes of solids.▪ Installation: in channel or tank▪ Sieve basket shape: curved or flat▪ Screen mesh: PES or stainless steel▪ Screenings discharge: via a trough, spiral conveyor, or screenings press▪ Screenings backwash: utilisation of compressed air, flushing water or the

combination compressed air / flushing water

APPLICATIONS & FIELDS OF OPERATIONSurface water treatment: ▪ Potable water treatment▪ Pre-treatment stage for the removal of sediments and organic content upstream

of the infiltration basin▪ Relief of strain on downstream gravel filter, reverse osmosis or UV installations▪ Treatment of stormwater from overflow tanks▪ Provision of service water in the paper, chemical or pharmaceutical industries

and in power stations▪ Treatment of circulation water from cooling towers in the chemical or paper industry▪ Removal of algae from running water ▪ Purification of fish farming water▪ Protection against algae clogging of spraying installations in field irrigation▪ Recovery of recyclable matter

Wastewater treatment: ▪ Fine treatment of wastewater discharge from secondary clarification basins▪ Reduction of solids content in wastewater▪ Protection and purification of sensitive or low water receiving water courses

in holiday or recreational regions▪ Relief of strain on downstream gravel filter, reverse osmosis or UV installations▪ Treatment of rainwater from rainwater overflow tanks▪ Removal of hair and other particles from wastewater upstream of membrane systems

to avoid pigtailing▪ Retention of flocs from upstream phosphate precipitation▪ Pre-treatment of wastewater to protect downstream processes

UNIQUE FEATURES▪ Internal infeed prevents an accumulation of sludge in recesses of the channel

installation; no bulking of sludge or undesired digestion processes▪ No accumulation of sludge within the drum as the screened solids are continuously

and entirely removed from it

FUNCTION The raw water passes through the screen drum cage from the inside to the outside, leaving solid particles on the inner surface of the screen. The ensuing covering of the screen surface causes a dam-ming effect of the raw water inflow on the inside of the drum. When a defined difference in the water levels of the inflowing raw water and the outflowing clean water is reached, the drum begins to rotate.

During the rotating movement, the screen mesh is backwashed with a spraying device from the outside inwards. This spraying device is located in the upper apex of the micro screening machine. The cleaning of the screen baskets improves the filtration performance and reduces the water level differential. The drum stops rotating.

The cleaning water and screenings are directed out of the drum via the internal launder channel, a screenings press or a spiral conveyor.
