Chapter 1 Installation Overview

1.1 Software to Be Installed

For a new built site, if the software version of a delivered NodeB meets the requirement, the software to be installed on site only includes Local Maintenance Terminal (LMT) software and NodeB data configuration file.

1.1.1 LMT Software

LMT software serves as a tool for NodeB maintenance. It can maintain NodeBs of multiple models (including BTS3812, BTS3806, BTS3806A, and BTS3802C) and versions.

LMT software is composed of the following four systems:

Operation & Maintenance system (O&M system) Alarm Management System Configuration Management System TraceViewer

The four systems are all installed during LMT software installation.

You must be on site to install LMT software.

Note:

In this manual, the computer on which LMT software is installed is referred to as LMT.

1.1.2 NodeB Data Configuration File

The name of the NodeB data configuration file is NodeBcfg.xml. It defines relations and parameters of NodeB objects, and enables the NodeB to provide required communications service. The data configuration file of each NodeB must be customized according to the reality.

You must be on site to install the NodeB data configuration file.

V. Prompting "The free space is not enough"

Possible cause: The size of the file to be downloaded is larger than the free space in the CF card or Flash Memory of the NodeB.

Handling suggestion: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.

VI. Prompting "Connecting to FTP server failed"

Possible cause: The FTP Server is not started, the entered IP address of the FTP Server is wrong, the network communication to the FTP Server is faulty or the NMPT is working abnormally.

Handling suggestion: Check whether the FTP Server has been started. Check the entered FTP Server user name and password. Check the authority setting. If the FTP Server is not faulty, ping the IP address of the NMPT. If the IP cannot be pinged, check whether the network adapter and the network cable are normal. If they are faulty, replace them. Otherwise, check whether the NMPT is normal. If no, clear the fault and implement the download again.

VII. Prompting "Logging into FTP server failed"

Possible cause: The user name or password used to log into the FTP Server is wrong.

Handling suggestion: Use the correct user name and password to log into the FTP Server. If the FTP Server is built in the LMT Operation & Maintenance System, set the FTP Server user name and password by clicking [System/System Configuration] in the Operation & Maintenance System.

VIII. Prompting "Illegal parameter values"

Possible cause: The file name or directory name entered is invalid. For example, the file name is longer than 200 bytes, contains character such as “*”, “"“, “?”, “<“, “>", “|”, “\”, “/” and “:” or totally blanks.

Handling suggestion: Name the software to be downloaded according to the naming rule, and then download the file again. Do not change the names of these files.

IX. Prompting "System busy"

Possible cause: The NodeB is downloading or uploading files or activating file versions.

Handling suggestion: The NodeB will automatically carry out this command after it finishes the previous task. Do not keep running the command after the system displays such a message.

X. Prompting “Broken resume expired”

Possible cause: The communication between the Operation & Maintenance System and NodeB has been interrupted for more than one day. Therefore, the NodeB stops resuming the file transmission at the broken point.

Handling suggestion: Download the file again.

XI. Prompting "The source file you want to re-download from the break point does not match"

Possible cause: The original file on the FTP Server is changed during the procedure of resuming file transmission at broken point.

Handling suggestion: Download the file again.
