T
he Noblesville Chamber of Commerce has the distinction of serving as the
oldest business advocacy organization in Hamilton County. Celebrating 75
years of serving the Noblesville business community, the Chamber views
this milestone as an awesome responsibility and privilege. The staff and volunteers
continue to promote economic development and prosperity in Noblesville.
A highlight of celebrating that historical anniversary was our Diamond
Anniversary Gala in November 2010 a black-tie event with more than 250
attendees. Lt. Governor Becky Skillman served as our honorary chairman, and the
proceeds of the event were used to establish two Chamber scholarships. One is for
a high school student planning to major in business, and the other
is for a Noblesville Chamber member to attend the Hamilton
County Leadership Academy.
While we cannot always guarantee Chamber of Commerce
weather, the Chamber leaders will guarantee that Noblesville
is a unique community comprised of beautiful parks and trails,
a thriving Historic downtown square, state-of-the-art medical
facilities, premier academics, arts and cultural activities, and of
course plenty of shopping. Noblesville also has been the site
of most of the countys manufacturing facilities, and we have several small, family-
owned as well as large manufacturing facilities doing business internationally.
For our Chamber members we provide many opportunities and resources to
enhance their business synergy. We offer monthly informative luncheons with guest
speakers, networking breakfasts, seminars, social events, business recognition awards,
a Business Expo, a web and social media presence and this directory, which I hope
you will refer to frequently.
It has been more than 243 years since the establishment of the very first Chamber
of Commerce in our country. That speaks volumes about the rich heritage and
commitment of our mission and philosophy and the Chambers roles in business,
economic freedom and advocacy.
I hope that you will use this directory to learn more about Noblesville, to refer to
the Chamber members listed here as well as on the Chambers website at
www.noblesvillechamber.com and to review the latest membership list and the many
activities that membership in the Chamber provides.
Stop by the Chamber office at 601 E. Conner Street. We also have maps,
brochures and other pertinent information about the area, which might be of
assistance to you whether you are a newcomer or lifelong resident.
Regards,
Sharon McMahon, president
Welcome to our latest
project to serve Noblesville
Get to know Noblesville
With a population of barely 500 in 1850,
Noblesville has grown to include more than 50,000
today. Hamilton County historian David Heighway cites
three periods as catalysts for the areas growth spurts
since it was platted in 1823 by William Conner and
Josiah Polk.
1830, when everybody moved here in the first
place; the 1890s, when the gas boom happened;
and then today and its all because of economic
opportunity, he said.
For almost two centuries, Noblesville has grown,
struggled, persevered, survived and prospered while
retaining its distinct personality. Many family farms
now are the site of factories, dirt roads have become
four-lane highways and general stores have given way
to chain retailers, but Noblesvilles story and character
havent changed.
Did you know?
Settler William Conner built the first brick house in
Noblesville in 1823.
In 1824, Noblesville became the seat of Hamilton
County.
The first county newspaper, called The Newspaper,
began publication in 1836.
Noblesville was incorporated as a town in 1851.
The town held its first agricultural fair in 1852.
Noblesville organized its first baseball team in
1868.
Natural gas was discovered locally, sparking the
1887 population boom.
The 1890 Census shows a population of 2,221, an
increase of nearly 60 percent in two decades.
Theodore Roosevelt, 26th U.S. president, arrived in
Noblesville to deliver a speech in 1902.
A Noblesville baseball player was put on trial a
scapegoat for the team for playing on Sunday, a
crime at the time. He was found not guilty, and the
law later was amended.
1910 Census puts the population at more than
5,000.
Forest Park was created in 1927.
The Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1935.
President Harry S. Truman made a speech during a
1948 whistle-stop tour.
In 1968, the first African American was elected to
the Noblesville city council.
A 2005 special Census recorded a population of
nearly 39,500.
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce named
Noblesville, Indiana Community of the Year in 2008.

Down to business
By Nancee Reeves
N
oblesville is known for its lovely parks, well-tended
golf courses and historic attractions. But the town of
about 50,000 residents also is home to a bustling business
culture.
I firmly believe that consumers can find most anything they
require or wish to purchase by shopping in Noblesville, said
Sharon McMahon, president of the Noblesville Chamber of
Commerce. From spa services to clothing, first-rate health care to
dcor and automobiles, we have it all.
Downtown
Noblesvilles quaint downtown has avoided the fate of many
small towns. Thriving restaurants, shops and a weekly farmers
market occupy the main square.
Our historic downtown square is full of culinary delights and
shopping for unusual collectibles and one-of-a-kind objects,
McMahon said.
Matteos Ristorante
Italiano has been a local
favorite for eight years.
According to owner
Emily DiRosa, the
eatery has many years
ahead.
The downtown
area has really grown
since we first got here,
aiding the growth of our
restaurant, DiRosa said.
We recently bought a
plot of land on the other
side of the square. That
is as far as we plan to
ever move.
Manufacturing
Noblesville is
the site of a thriving
manufacturing
community, too.
Noblesville Corporate
Campus a mix
of office, industrial,
commercial and
residential space
houses Helmer, Inc.,
a manufacturer and
supplier of medical
supplies, while Field
Rubber Products
is located east of
downtown and Industrial Dielectrics is located just off the
downtown square. These international businesses are thriving in
the small-town atmosphere.
We have been in the same location for 55 years and have
no desire to move, said Mike Field, president of Field Rubber
John Corbin finds Exit 10 a great place to work and visit.
Products. We are right off Highway 32, so we have wonderful
visibility. Its been great watching the town grow up around us.
Exit 10
To the north of the corporate center is the bustling Exit 10.
Shoppers and spectators come from around the state to shop at
the Hamilton Town Center and take in events at Verizon Wireless
Music Center.
This is a growing area for a lot of reasons, said Andrew
Newport, general manager for Verizon Wireless Music Center.
Its easy to get to, its centrally located and the city is wonderful
to work with. On top of all that, the area is now full of shopping,
eating and lodging options.
John Corbin is director of sales for Cambria Suites, located
within walking distance of the music center and the Hamilton
Town Center. He agrees that Exit 10 is a great place to work
and visit.
The businesses in Noblesville are a community of their own,
he said. We bounce ideas off each other and support each other.
Many of the events Cambria Suites hosts are local.
Monica Peck, co-owner of Hare Chevrolet, has seen many
changes in Noblesville in her lifetime.
When I was a kid we had to go to Indianapolis for everything,
she said. Now, with so many new businesses, especially the
Hamilton Town Center, I dont have to leave Noblesville if I dont
want to. And I never do.

Q&A with Mike Fields
president, Field Rubber Products
Q: How long has Field Rubber Products been
connected with Noblesville?
A: Since the very beginning of our company. My
grandfather moved here in 1955 from Ohio with
the intention of making Noblesville his home
and the location of his new business. My father took over from him, and
I recently took over for my father. Its a real family business. My mom still
helps keep the books in order, and my father, who is semiretired, takes an
active part in the business.
Q: What do you like about owning a business in Noblesville?
A: Everything. The city really works with you and there is a great employee
pool. Also, being so close to Indianapolis is a plus. I can run to the city for
anything I cant find in Noblesville. Its great living in a small community
and being near the resources of a city.
Q: So you and your family live in Noblesville?
A: Yes, I grew up here. My family and I live right downtown in a wonderful
140-year-old house. Noblesville still has a great small-town feel, yet its
a great place for an international business like mine. Its the best of both
worlds.

By Ashley Petry
Living in Noblesville can seem like taking a trip back in time. On
summer evenings, neighbors gather in the park for band concerts and
theatrical performances. On Saturday mornings, they head to the farmers
market to buy local produce and homemade goods. At the annual street
dance, they marvel at antique cars and vie for the ice-cream-eating
championship.
Yet Noblesville is the epitome of a modern community, with top-notch
schools, a vibrant business community and an expanding arts scene. The
historic Hamilton County courthouse square is a center of commerce, with
some of the areas most popular restaurants and boutiques.
The population has
mushroomed to more than
50,000 in recent years, but the
community retains a small-town
feel.
You meet people who have
always lived here and whose
parents have always lived here,
said John Davis, senior pastor
of First Christian Church.
There is a tremendous sense of
belonging.
Downtown is still the heart of
Noblesville, but the boundaries
have extended to include
lakefront properties along
Morse Reservoir and southside
neighborhoods that afford easy
access to Indianapolis.
While Noblesville is a
convenient home base for
commuters, it also boasts a
vibrant economy of its own.
The local school system, county
government and city government
employ about 2,200 people;
other top employers include
Riverview Hospital, SMC
Corporation of America and
King Systems Corporation.
Its a really welcoming
business environment, said Jon
Hirschfeld, senior vice president
with F.C. Tucker Company.
During their time off, many
Noblesville residents are active
in community groups, including a number that focus on the arts or historic
preservation.
Weve got a good group of concerned citizens who are interested in
keeping the downtown area vibrant, said Mike Corbett, president of the
Noblesville Preservation Alliance. Noblesville has a historical heritage as
the county seat and the center of commerce, and we retain a lot of
that spirit.
Noblesville also has an active network of churches and other faith-based
organizations whose members actively serve the community.
Because Noblesville is a definable community with a town square and a
Vibrant place to live

small-town sense of community.

Noblesvilles historic
neighborhoods
The Noblesville Historic Preservation
Commission has identified 12 historic
downtown neighborhoods, each with its
own character. Heres a look at five of
them.
Central Square. Since William Conner
and Josiah Polk planned the town in
1823, this area has served as the
central business district. Most of the
existing buildings were built in the
1860s to 1890s.
Pioneer Homestead. Home to many
of the towns founding fathers, this
neighborhood was developed in the
1850s and 60s.
Johnstown. Originally Conners farm,
this neighborhood was popular among
factory workers during the 1890s
natural-gas boom.
Old Second Ward. Settled from the
1870s through the 1900s, this middle-
class area was home to many early
baseball players, including James
Scooper Barnes and Clarence Wyant.
Gentlemen Farmers. Built in the
1880s and 90s, these country homes
were built for Noblesvilles more
successful business owners.

Commission
long tradition, people have a sense of community pride,
and that probably does permeate into the way they act
out their faith, Davis said.
Because of the communitys amenities, many
families live in Noblesville for generations. Monica
Peck, chairman-elect of the Noblesville Chamber of
Commerce, grew
up here, as did
her parents and
husband. Former
schoolmates who
live elsewhere
would do
anything to get
back here to raise
their families,
she said.
Even with
the growth, theres always been a small-town feel to
Noblesville, Peck said. Everybody knows everybody,
and theres a true sense of community.

oblesville residents appreciate their communitys many

Public improvements
Noblesville Schools serves 9,000 students in seven elementary
schools, an intermediate school, a middle school and a high school
with a separate freshman campus.
We do expect an increase in enrollment overall in the
district, said Sharon Trisler, director of public relations.
A restructuring is underway to accommodate increasing
enrollment and streamline progression through the district. This
development was made possible when the community passed a
$63 million facilities referendum.
The expansion will enable the elementary schools to
accommodate fifth-grade students. The present intermediate
school will become the districts second middle school for students
in grades six, seven and eight. These moves will occur when a new
elementary school on Promise Road is completed in August 2012.
Other facility improvements include adding a gymnasium and
athletic fields at the intermediate school, safety improvements at
the middle school and four new science labs and classrooms at the
high school.
New for fall 2011, Noblesville Schools will add an all-day
kindergarten option at all elementary schools.
Dr. Libbie Connor, superintendent, explained that the
district is considering adding 21st Century Learning Skills
resources. Integrating such tools could help students improve
critical thinking, problem solving, communication, innovation,
collaboration and creativity skills.
A personal choice
Many private schools offer a learning curriculum for the
youngest of learners. The Primrose School
accepts students as young as six weeks old
with a structured curriculum.
Were a preschool with childcare
hours, said Megan Kashman, director. We
have a full curriculum in every classroom,
but were open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Other private school options include
Goddard School, Cornerstone Christian
Academy and Legacy Christian School.
Consistently small classes is a private-
school selling point. Amy Gammon, a
rst-grade teacher at Legacy Christian School, has just nine
students in her class.
All the teachers know all the kids names and the kids know
all the teachers, she said. Its a real family feeling.
Schools that fit each family, each child
