The guiding principles on Business and Human rights led by Prof. John Rug- gie - endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2011 -, the adoption of the EU directive on mandatory disclosing of non-financial information and the recent UK Modern Slavery Act have prompted companies to address the issue proactively. Some of them have recently published their standalone reports on human rights, using for the first time the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework. While companies are moving ahead, governments are developing national action plans on Business and Human Rights and should be thinking soon to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The recent Sustainable Development Goals have indeed been anchored on the respect of human rights and have confirmed the role of the private sec- tor as a key driver for their implementation through partnerships and new collaborative models. Given the growing strategic importance of the issue, ICC Italy is organizing a high-level deep dive, gathering experts and key stakeholders from public and private sector to share the state of art of this topic and to explore all the strategic and practical implications for all the operators concerned. The guiding principles on Business and Human rights led by Prof. John Rug-gie - endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2011 -, the adoption of the EU directive on mandatory disclosing of non-financial information and the recent UK Modern Slavery Act have prompted companies to address the issue proactively. Some of them have recently published their standalone reports on human rights, using for the first time the UN Guiding Principles Reporting Framework.

While companies are moving ahead, governments are developing national action plans on Business and Human Rights and should be thinking soon to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The recent Sustainable Development Goals have indeed been anchored on the respect of human rights and have confirmed the role of the private sec-tor as a key driver for their implementation through partnerships and new collaborative models.

Given the growing strategic importance of the issue, ICC Italy is organizing a high-level deep dive, gathering experts and key stakeholders from public and private sector to share the state of art of this topic and to explore all the strategic and practical implications for all the operators concerned.
