■ The Independent Safety Monitoring Board has noconcerns regarding the safety of New Zealand’smeningococcal B vaccine [MeNZB], according to aPrescriber Update article posted on New Zealand’sMedsafe website. The board reviewed MeNZB safetydata from 19 Jul 2004 to 19 Sep 2004, during whichtime 140 000 doses of MeNZB were administered.The article notes that, as of 24 Sep 2004, NewZealand’s Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoringhad received a total of 88 reports of adverse eventsfollowing MeNZB vaccination, the most frequent ofwhich were injection site reactions, rash, fever andvomiting.
