Blessed Pascha We made it and I told you itwould come quickly Celebrate the day ldquoForthis is the Day the Lord has made Rejoice and beglad in itrdquo Our Lord by His death and resur-rection has overcome sin and death and thegreat Victory is His and ours The only angryone today is Hades itself for as St John Chry-sostom in his exquisite Paschal Homily says

ldquoHades is angered because it has been frus-trated

It is angered because it has been destroyedIt is angered because it has been reduced to

naughtIt seized earth and behold it encountered

heavenIt seized the visible and was overcome by the

invisibleO death where is your sting O Hades where

is your victoryChrist is risen and you are abolishedhelliprdquo

And that is why we rejoice and give thanksfor this most beautiful day the Day of Days theFeast of Feasts Christ is Risen and calls all ofus to Life Everlasting When we speak of theday of Resurrection words fall short even themost beautiful and powerful words that come tomind such as radiant joyful glorious awe-some powerful life- giving saving This Godrising from the dead is really too much to com-prehend at one time or maybe I should sayeven in a whole lifetime We are people of theResurrection today and always Let us simplybask in His victory and give Him thanks andglory

Indeed our entire life is one of constantly be-ing reminded of and celebrating the Holy andGlorious Resurrection of our Lord I wonder ifanyone saw what happened last Saturday night

(a week from yesterday) during the Great En-trance at the Liturgy in St Nicholas No Ididnrsquot drop anything or forget the wordshellip

The Liturgy was being offered for +EvaBorowiec of blessed memory As I brought thegifts out while saying the usual prayer at theexact time I mentioned her name the sunblasted through the western window and shonedirectly on the chalice I was holding Coin-cidence I donrsquot think so ldquoGod-incidencerdquoYep thatrsquos what I think I hope the family ofEva saw it too

Thatrsquos what the resurrection is all aboutdonrsquot you think Our God has revealed Himselfto us and He has come into the life of everyoneof us The Great Battle has been won but westill must continue our journey through thisldquovalley of tearsrdquo Just because itrsquos Easter Daydoes not mean that all sickness and sorrow andeven physical death have disappeared I knowyou still may hurt or someone you know is in ahospital room or maybe even a funeral parlorI know the cancer is still there I know thatthere are many who are sad and broken-hearted I know there are family membersstruggling and away from those who love themI know there are sons and daughters Dads andMoms off in a far away land fighting in a warIn the Resurrection we now have an entirelynew way of looking at these problems and ofdealing with them It will be all right

When we ponder lifersquos difficulties and talkabout the victory of the Resurrection I alwaysthink of the time after a war when the truce orsurrender has been declared and ldquoofficiallyrdquothe hostilities have ceased Yes somebody mayhave signed a paper in Appomattox or on agreat battleship but it takes days months oras in some cases like the Japanese forces in thePacific even years to get the word to those onthe battlefields In the meantime the warriorsin those far away places continued to fight anddie

So it is with ushellipthe debt of our sins has beenpaid the battle has been won by our Lord Jesus

Christ the document of victory our ransomfrom sin and death has been signed with Hisvery own Blood However each of us continuesldquoto fight the good fightrdquo until He calls us to ourown resurrection But in His victory in HisLove in His presence in His Resurrection wemust know we are new people His people

Отець Дмитро Блажейовський народився 21 серпня 1910 року у Вислік Горішній Лем-ківщина ndash тепер частина села Вислік Вели-кий Підкарпатського воєводства у Польщі

У 1922-1930 роках навчався в українській гімназії у ПеремишліУ 1933 році як студент-електротехнік Празької Політехніки пішов на пішу прощу з Праги до Риму і тут вступив до Папської української семінарії святого Йосафата

За 12 років перебування у Римі вивчав філософію теологію та історію і з відзнакою успішно захистив дві докторські дисертації ndash з богословя в Папському Урбаніянському

університеті а з церковної історії в Пап-ському Грегоріянському університеті

З 1946 до 1973 року душпастирював у різних греко-католицьких парафіях у США організувавши 3 парафії одну місійну ста-ницю та спорудивши кілька храмів

1973 року повернувся до Риму де зайняв-ся науковою діяльністю зокрема у царині історії України української Церкви та педа-гогіки та вишиванням ікон

Отець Дмитро є автором коло 25 наукових праць серед яких цінні церковні історичні довідники (шематизми) українських пара-фій Перемишльської Станіславівської Львівської єпархій та української діаспори численних публіцистичних статей у діаспо-рі він відродив традицію української виши-ваної ікони і тепер в його творчому доробку понад 350 ікон та образів на релігійну тема-тику крім того він видав 16 збірок laquoУкраїн-ських релігійних вишивокraquo Його вишивані ікони можна побачити в багатьох країнах світу в Україні і за кордоном відбулось понад 100 виставок його творів

Понад 10 років тому о Блажейовський заснував у Львові власний музей вишива-них ікон та образів до речі єдиний в Укра-їні який утримував своїм коштом Отець Дмитро нагороджений Папською медаллю laquoХристос ndash наш мирraquo і державною нагоро-дою України ndash Орденом laquoЗа заслугиraquo ІІІ ступеня

2009 року Львівський музей вишиваних ікон та образів отця-доктора Дмитра Блаже-йовського і Товариство laquoУкраїна-Світraquo ви-сунули кандидатуру о Блажейовського на здобуття Національної премії України імені Тараса Шевченка

21 серпня 2010 року громадськість Украї-ни відзначила 100-річчя з дня народження о Дмитра Блажейовського у Національному театрі ім МЗаньковецької у Львові

Некролог

Отець Дмитро Блажейовський народився 21 серпня 1910 року у Вислік Горішній Лем-ківщина ndash тепер частина села Вислік Вели-кий Підкарпатського воєводства у Польщі

У 1922-1930 роках навчався в українській гімназії у ПеремишліУ 1933 році як студент-електротехнік Празької Політехніки пішов на пішу прощу з Праги до Риму і тут вступив до Папської української семінарії святого Йосафата

За 12 років перебування у Римі вивчав філософію теологію та історію і з відзнакою успішно захистив дві докторські дисертації ndash з богословя в Папському Урбаніянському

університеті а з церковної історії в Пап-ському Грегоріянському університеті

З 1946 до 1973 року душпастирював у різних греко-католицьких парафіях у США організувавши 3 парафії одну місійну ста-ницю та спорудивши кілька храмів

1973 року повернувся до Риму де зайняв-ся науковою діяльністю зокрема у царині історії України української Церкви та педа-гогіки та вишиванням ікон

Отець Дмитро є автором коло 25 наукових праць серед яких цінні церковні історичні довідники (шематизми) українських пара-фій Перемишльської Станіславівської Львівської єпархій та української діаспори численних публіцистичних статей у діаспо-рі він відродив традицію української виши-ваної ікони і тепер в його творчому доробку понад 350 ікон та образів на релігійну тема-тику крім того він видав 16 збірок laquoУкраїн-ських релігійних вишивокraquo Його вишивані ікони можна побачити в багатьох країнах світу в Україні і за кордоном відбулось понад 100 виставок його творів

Понад 10 років тому о Блажейовський заснував у Львові власний музей вишива-них ікон та образів до речі єдиний в Укра-їні який утримував своїм коштом Отець Дмитро нагороджений Папською медаллю laquoХристос ndash наш мирraquo і державною нагоро-дою України ndash Орденом laquoЗа заслугиraquo ІІІ ступеня

2009 року Львівський музей вишиваних ікон та образів отця-доктора Дмитра Блаже-йовського і Товариство laquoУкраїна-Світraquo ви-сунули кандидатуру о Блажейовського на здобуття Національної премії України імені Тараса Шевченка

21 серпня 2010 року громадськість Украї-ни відзначила 100-річчя з дня народження о Дмитра Блажейовського у Національному театрі ім МЗаньковецької у Львові

Сьогодні у день світлого празника Хрис-тового Воскресіння цими словами Канону Пасхи Свята Церква прославляє свого Спа-сителя який воскрес із мертвих Подібно як і колись у перший день створення світу ни-ні із темряви гробу що звичайно є темрявою небуття розпачу і безвиході засяяло божест-венне і несотворене світло життя laquoВоскре-сіння день minus просвітімося людиraquo Це світло божества яке випромінює із пошматованого і зраненого але воскреслого тіла Ісуса про-низує сьогодні всіх нас проникає у нашу осо-бисту темряву гріха немочі безнадії та зне-віри і просвічує оживляє та воскрешає minus від-криває двері до нового життя

Пасха Господня яку ми сьогодні святкує-мо є запрошенням воскреслого Христа йти за Ним від смерті до життя Сьогодні Він як новий Мойсей кличе нас покинути єгипет-ське рабство і служіння всьому тому що за-бирає у нас гідність дітей Божих Слуга Бо-жий Папа Іван Павло ІІ врочистий акт за-рахування якого до лику блаженних ndash беати-фікація ndash відбудеться 1 травня цього року назвав це сучасне невільництво культурою смерті тобто сукупністю правил сучасного життя які пропагують насилля над ненаро-дженими і хворими поширюють зневагу християнської сімrsquoї та моралі відбирають нашу свободу Божих дітей примушують плазувати перед різноманітними земними ідолами та кумирами сучасності

Цього року святкуючи десятилітній юві-лей приїзду цього святця до України прига-даймо собі його девіз laquoХристос ndash дорога правда і життяraquo ndash та його батьківські слова якими він наставляв нас на дорогу життя записану в десяти Божих Заповідях Пасха Господня ndash це рух цим шляхом це по-чаток мандрівки від землі до небес А здійснюється цей рух силою Божою яка

сьогодні здолала найсильніше у цьому сві-ті ndash саму смерть laquoВід смерті бо до життя і від землі до небес Христос Бог нас пере-вівraquo Не стіймо осторонь цього божествен-ного прогресу не даймо викинути себе на узбіччя життя фальшивими приманами і тоді у цій пасхальній процесії як обrsquoєдна-ний Божий люд вийдемо разом із нашим Спасителем від землі до небес

Дорогі у Христі сини і доньки Україн-ської Греко-Католицької Церкви У цей світлий день прямуючи назустріч воскрес-лому Христові ми не йдемо мовчки minus ми laquoперемоги пісню співаємоraquo Як важливо для нашого народу що живе на різних кон-тинентах і сьогодні часом є розгубленим пригніченим та зневіреним у власній гід-ності та силі заспівати цю урочисту пас-хальну пісню перемоги Нехай сьогодні її величні слова вирвуться з кожного україн-ського серця пройнявши душу й тіло і полинуть до небес Бо ж у воскреслому Спасителеві є сила незламність і перемога українського духу laquoГосподь minus просвічення моє і спаситель мій Кого маю боятисяraquo minus співає пророк Давид (Пс 26 1)

Нехай ця пасхальна пісня перемоги залу-нає сьогодні у кожному нашому домі у кожній родині Разом із пасхальною кра-шанкою та благословенним хлібом несімо її сьогодні убогим і стражденним вrsquoязням і тим хто поневіряється на рабських робо-тах хворим і тим хто сумує та плаче під тягарем щоденних життєвих хрестів Не-хай сила воскреслого Спасителя який сьогодні переможно виходить із запечата-ного гробу буде вашим світлом вашою силою та вашою піснею

The fact that there is life in the resurrection isour source of faith We have hope becauseJesus rose from the dead In the resurrectionof Jesus we believe in something greatersomething better and something Eternal Weknow that because Jesus lives today we too canlive with Him The resurrection of Christ isincontrovertible proof of His divinity Whenthe Pharisees and the Scribes demanded a signfrom Christ which would prove that He is theSon of God He answered them saying that theywill not receive a sign other than that of theProphet Jonas ldquoFor even Jonas was in the bellyof a whale three days and three nights so willthe Son of Man be three days and three nightsin the heart of the earthrdquo (Matthew 1230) Andso it happened on the third day of His deaththe glorious resurrection took place Centuries

have come and gone but our faith remainsbecause the Resurrection of Christ is thefoundation of our Church and our belief inEternal life On Easter morning the womenwho came to the grave to anoint Christrsquos bodyfound only an empty tomb He is risen as Hesaid an Angel told them Later that day Jesusappeared to His disciples and then over thecourse of the next few weeks to as many as fivehundred people at one time Even DoubtingThomas did not wave his head in disbelief forlong Easter changes everything

On this Easter Day we rejoice because thetomb is empty And along with Peter I praythat we hear the good news today of our LordrsquosResurrection and that we run to the tomb tolook inside and believe that the song we arehearing is true lsquoChrist is risen from the deadby death He conquered death and to those inthe graves He granted lifersquo Alleluia May thisEaster song of joy reach out to all of us on thisglorious day when the Church proclaims thatthe Lord is truly risen This cry which burstforth from the hearts of the disciples on thefirst day after the Sabbath has spanned thecenturies and now at this precise moment intime renews once more humanitys hopes withthe unaltered certainty of the Resurrection ofChrist the Redeemer of mankind ldquoI am theway the truth and the life no one comes to theFather except through merdquo (John 146) Just asChrist rose so too shall we rise one day into anew and glorious Eternal life Christ assuredus of this when he said ldquoThe hour is coming inwhich all who are in their graves shall hear thevoice of the Son of God And they who havedone good shall come forth unto resurrection oflife For this is the will of the Father who sentme that whoever beholds the Son and believesin Him shall have everlasting life and I willraise Him up on the last dayrdquo (John 528-29640) (From ldquoGood nSamaritainrdquo radio prog)
