Wonderful Fathers

Fathers are just wonderful in a million different ways,

and they merit loving compliments and accolades of praise.

Parents are the pride of their children. Proverbs 17:6

Today cherish your own father and esteem all fathers. Fathers are educators, models, providers and sources of love for their children. Daily they uphold the role of hero in their children’s eyes.

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

It is wonderful to see the pride, satisfaction and relief of the Year 12 students who have already embarked on parts of their HSC. We have major works submitted for Society and Culture, Design and Technology and Visual Arts, the Drama performances have been completed and the Italian oral exam has been undertaken. Music students perform next week. The destination of the schooling journey is fast approaching. It is with admiration that I observe a group of young people who are willing to attend early morning tutorials and HSC Support Evenings, who are focused in class and who are completing practice essays and past examinations.

In order to honour this group of Year 12 students, there have been some special activities organised that will be memorable and allow them to really revel in the company of one another before the final assembly on Wednesday 16 September at 10am, which will be held in the Marcellin Hall. Please keep them and our Year 11 Prelim students in your prayers.

CONGRATULATIONS AND A HUGE THANK YOU To everyone who donated to our

canned food drive

“SHARE WHAT YOU CAN”

Together as a school community 450 cans were donated to be given to our local St

Vincent de Paul Centre to be distributed to those in need within our community.

Many years ago a famous shoe company sent one of its salespeople to a far away country to start a business. After a few months the salesman sent back a message: 'I am coming home. Nobody wears shoes here.'

The same company sent another salesperson to the same backward area. After a few months she also sent a message to the home office, but this message was quite different: 'This place is fantastic!!! Nobody wears shoes here. Send more order forms; I'm cleaning up.'

The second salesperson saw the opportunity in her situation – not the difficulty. She succeeded because she was courageous; she showed faith in the people and courage in her ability to canvass customers.

'Courage! Do not be afraid' are the opening words from this Sunday's first reading at Mass. Let us be courageous in trusting in God and look at every situation as an opportunity, not a difficulty.

God Bless

Father Rafter
