Rates of Pay
General Elections, March 2018 Notice made under Section 6 (2) of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act 2001 concerning the appointment of election officers and to provide for the amounts payable for their services in the performance of such duties as may be assigned to them.
(1) Every Returning Officer in whose Constituency the election is uncontested shall be paid the sum of $1600.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Returning Officer.
(2) Every Returning Officer in whose Constituency the election is contested shall be paid the sum of $1600.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Returning Officer.
(3) Every Presiding Officer shall be paid the sum of $700.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Presiding Officer.
(4) Every Poll Clerk shall be paid the sum of $350.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Poll Clerk.
(5) Every Tally Clerk shall be paid the sum of $150.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Tally Clerk.

(6) Every Messenger shall be paid the sum of $150.00 for his/her services in the performance of his/her duties as a Messenger.
TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE
(1) A Returning Officer shall be paid the amount of $400.00 for rural areas and the amount of $300.00 for suburban
areas.
(2) A Presiding Officer shall be paid the amount of $250.00 for rural areas and the amount of $200.00 for suburban areas.

The Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards The Antigua and Barbuda Bureau of Standards wishes to advise the General Public and all stakeholder agencies that effective April 16, 2018 the following standard shall be declared to be a Standard, and an Antigua and Barbuda Standard, pursuant to section 17 (1) and (3) of the Standards Act (411) of the revised laws of Antigua and Barbuda, 1992 edition and section 3 (1) of the Standards Regulations 1998: ABNS 14: 2018 Standard for jams, jellies and marmalades Scope: This Standard applies to jams, jellies and marmalades, as defined in Section 2 below, and offered for direct consumption, including for catering purposes or for repacking if required. This Standard does not apply to:
a) products when indicated as being intended for further processing such as those intended for use in the manufacture of fine bakery wares, pastries or biscuits;
b) products which are clearly intended or labeled as intended for special dietary uses;
c) reduced sugar products or those with a very low sugar content;
d) products where the foodstuffs with sweetening properties have been replaced wholly or partially by food additive
sweeteners. The terms, “preserve” or “conserve” are sometimes used to represent products covered by this Standard. The use of the terms “preserve” and “conserve” are thereby required to comply with the requirements for jam and/or extra jam as set out in this Standard. This standard was prepared by the Jams and Jellies Working Group under the supervision of the National Codex, Food and Agriculture Technical Committee and approved by the Antigua and Barbuda Standards Council on February 02, 2018.
