2 Approval of Minutes of last meeting

Minutes approved

3 Action Points and Matters Arising

• Hadrian Leisure have indicated that resetting all routes annually would result in them making a loss if the NMC reduced their use of the Burnside facility

◦ AW has investigated route setting alternatives and believes that the current price that Hadrian Leisure are paying for route setting is not unreasonable.

• NMC hoodies and T-Shirts are now available.

4 Correspondence

• ES has applied to the BMC for Neil Gresham or Kenton Cool to speak, and is investigating the Cluny as a venue.

◦ The committee decided on Kenton Cool

• ES proposed that the club support new members by subsidising first away meets

• JS proposed Stephen Venables to speak on Shackleton at the Lit and Phil, for a $500 fee plus a share of the takings from ticket sales.

◦ The Stephen Venables talk is to be promoted outside the climbing community

• Two members' slide shows are to be scheduled for the beginning and end of the winter season using a variation on the Pecha Kucha format

5 Communications

• IB has produced a prototype for northumberlandclimbing.co.uk

◦ Chris Graham has made the domain name available to the club.

◦ JD recommends having someone with design experience smarten up the website

◦ JD recommends scoping the online guide requirements at the next meeting

6 Events

• The BMC festival of climbing and walking has occurred and filled the venue despite having little local publicity.

7 Services for Members

• Summer Edition of County Climber ready for publication

• Autumn edition due mid-October.

• An Adobe desktop publishing package has been purchased for use in producing guidebooks and County Climber

• JS discussed potential future development of County Climber along the lines of scottishclimbs.com

8 AOB

• Information signs to be put up at the major crags – JD to take the lead on this, working with John Vaughn.
