NITT - Overview

The National Institute of Technology (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Tiruchirappalli, situated in the heart of

Tamil Nadu on the banks of the river Cauvery, was started as a joint and co-operative venture between the Government of

India and the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1964 with a view of catering to the needs of man-power in technology and

entrepreneurship. The college was conferred with autonomy in financial and administrative matters to achieve rapid

development. Because of this rich experience, the institution was granted Deemed University status with the approval of the

UGC/AICTE and the Govt. of India in the year 2003 and was renamed National Institute of Technology. The Chairman of NIT-T is Mr. R Seshasayee (Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Ltd.) and the Director of NIT-T is Prof. M Chidambaram. Presently the institute is undergoing an accelerated growth phase through the World Bank funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

NIT, Tiruchirappalli is one of the premier educational institutions in India and

has always played a pioneering role in expanding the frontiers of knowledge

and developing new courses. Set up in 1982, the Department of Management

Studies has established a reputation as a school of academic excellence that

cares for its students.

This MBA programme has been consistently rated as one of the top 10 sectoral

B-Schools in India. The challenging work environment provided by the institute

combined with the intelligence, high energy and motivation of our students has

made DoMS a great gurukul. This develops business graduates with a holistic

perspective, versatile in functional areas and specialized in industry domains.

The Department of Management Studies offers quality management education

and imparts value in grooming future managers. The Master of Business

Administration (MBA) course at DoMS is designed to achieve a perfect balance

between the theory and practice of management.

At DoMS, we constantly redesign and restructure our curriculum, making it

relevant to the rapidly changing business environment. Our students are

equipped with managerial concepts and skills to face the challenges ahead of

them and embrace change with a positive attitude.

Our excellent faculty members not only instil in our students a solid grounding

in the academic theories and concepts of their specializations, but also provide

insights into the practical issues and challenges currently facing their
